Treasury wants O'Neill papers probed

Probe to focus on how possibly classified information appeared in a TV interview, spokesman says.

Treasury Spokesman Rob Nichols said that "based on the '60 minutes' interview aired Sunday night there was a document shown that appeared to be classified."

http://money.cnn.com/2004/01/12/news/economy/oneill_probe/index.htm?cnn=yes

I don't think O'Neill thought about this reprecussion when he chose to divulge classified information... he should have gone through the IG's whistle blowers program...

tisk tisk!

Don't be sneaking into Uncle Sam's secrets jar!

Of course the Administration is going to fight back. Ouch!

That was a rather bonehead move, but the ones to blame, other than O'Neill, is the administration!  If they didn't make any remarks to it, then people probably wouldn't have noticed it and not even cared!

I wouldn't be suprised if the IG is asked to eventually drop the investigation... if it ever gets underway...

The best policy is to neither confirm or deny the credibility of classified information.

An investigation may do more harm by confirm the veracity of classified information.

Most likely their announcement of the "desire of" an investion is just a scare tactic.

Be interesting to see how this plays out, if they do pursue it though.

Here's what I'm curious about.

Obviously, you have strongly held political opinions. You believe what you believe and are willing to proselytize.

Why did you find it necessary to create a shade account? We all knew where you stood as DmdNexus and it's easy to see that "Nakhui" stands in the same place.

Why bother to change?

I watched some on the interview last night (was working on a Tamiya 1/35 M4A3 Sherman so my focus wasnt on the program).......

Was funny to see the gal (Dianne Sawyer?) say that she thought the book made the president look bad and O'neill seemed surprised that she would come off with that impression.  "Really?" he said.  To paraphrase "The president was a mute in a room full of deaf people" really is not a flattering description, even my relatively simple functioning mind could safely come to that unfettered conclusion. O'neill lost all credibility at that point, with me at least.

Next.....

compelled to add the question mark lest the weak minded take me by the shorts and hold me accountable :aok

Given his style, he probably cheated on the test to fit into his preconceived notions of himself.  ;)

Personal attacks?
Does that make you feel better?
Do you feel superior now because you're able to come up with something derogatory?

Gee Toad... You're way to smart for any of us.

When you can't discuss an issue... you restort to personal attacks.

nice... I guess that makes you a real intellectual giant.

The rest of us are just soooo dumb in comparison to you.

You're so clever.

Please insult us some more and show us all how we are nothings compared to you.

In fact... no one else should have a voice here but you...

Your opinion is everything!

Praise the Toad!

Nah, I'm really not that smart. But, in comparison to you.......

:D

There, do you consider that an insult as well, DmdNexus?

BTW, during the actual praise ceremony, you should be kneeling. You are kneeling, aren't you?
