Big Brother et al

The biggest scam of the late 20th/early 21st centuries. The cost/benefit of the thing is astronomically attractive. A bunch of pampered, womenly men (thanks Lazs) discussing the emotional turmoil of being 25 years old and good looking, without the dignity to not chase bubble-headed, self-obsessed girls on national TV. The contestants are only marginally more bearable than the people who watch 24 hour cable channels covering the 'social experiment'; who hope to catch the idiots shagging or fighting, but they will never admit to that. Neither happens, and all they end up seeing is a bunch of people sleep or get drunk. Here's a thought, turn off the TV, go to bed yourself, get some friends around at the weekend and do it for real! Amazing!

Men's 'Lifestyle' Magazines

FHM, Maxim etc. I made the mistake of 'reading' one at a mate's house recently, to see if anything had changed since I last bought one. Basically soft porn with a few words as background. The scantily clad celebs say the same things - "I've never been with another women but I often think about it" or "I actually find ugly men attractive" or "I can't stay faithful, I love sex too much". They never say "I find lesbianism disgusting and I love my boyfriend and would never cheat on him." The stories are third rate tabloid trash, which might have got 50 words on page 25 of a regular newspaper but are drawn out to 1000 words of utter bollocks. Not cool. Buy a porn mag or open a book - both do their respective jobs better.

But I guess it would be "plastic" so many things are cheap and charactrless because they are made out of plastic or some people are plastic. Look at an old picture from the mid 1900s and before and notice how much more charcter every item has.

I hate the fact that apearance counts more than substance.  that it's more important for people to feel good, than to be good.

look at the ad campaigns.  companys spend huge budgets on advertising so people will think their product is the best (Nike for example pays M. Jordan more money anually than all of their over-seas factory workers combined, and he does nothing to improve their product).  it never even occures to them to spend that money actually making the product better.

people who are willing to conform to the image of what people think is a reliable person, go much farther in this world than actual reliable people.

I've seen so many people who (on their best day) where marginal at their job get promoted to management possitions while guys who stayed too busy to suck-up to the boss stayed in the same possition for years on end.

Human psychology.  We trust our eyes first.  "If I see it, it must be true."

I've seen so many people who (on their best day) were marginal at their job get promoted to management positions while guys who stayed too busy to suck-up to the boss stayed in the same possition for years on end.

Special projects.  End of year evaluations are usually along the lines of "what did you accomplish" and they can say "well, I met my quota of work assignments plus I finished the Alpha Project on time and under budget, closed the Beta deal for $x annual revenue, and secured commitments for y quantities of product from Delta Corp. for next fiscal year."  That sort of stuff looks good and stands out in a stack of employee evaluation data sheets. Brown-nosing the boss and toeing the corporate line helps.  It also helps to dress the image of what people think is a reliable person.  If you've got the looks, you've got the boss's cheeks on your face, and you've got the special projects, then you get the promotion.

I am talking about the tools, that bring a 2 year old to a nice restaraunt and let it run amok. Screaming, throwing things.

Or take there toddler to a movie NOT APROPRIET for a two year old and let it run amok.


Or the type that tries to be nice to the little bratt.... when it needs to be spanked.... This drives me nuts.
