I would disagree with you a little here, a good pilot will not end up in a HO position after the merge, s/he'll be on yer butt (or making the angle to) and about to deprive you of something vital:)

Grits the whole behaviour thing you mention is all about ego, there are some folk who cannot accept that the other guy is just a better pilot, or that they simply stuffed up,  Nooo, they come up with every lame excuse because their immature ego cant accept the truth.

Even thou some hate RJOs.   The one side benifit of commanding one is,  you can type in CAPs all night and nobody yells at ya!   Heck you even get to scream orders and everyone is good with it.    lol
