For all you "you are all animals for watching this and not being outraged" people.

I doubt most people here get pleasure from it, but it is interesting to see what our troops can do with the gear our tax money pays for.

Do you show the same outrage when the History Channel shows footage from WW2 gun cams? That was people dying as well, yet I have never heard anyone hear get all preachy about that.

GTO, that was then and this is now.

Old pictures of people getting blown up in war are fine. In fact, they are very popular and the advertisers support them. Why, even AH ran ads on Wings... which routinely shows enemies getting the old 20mm enema. Think about this: we all helped pay for those ads! Even Dowding!

But..... NEW pictures of people getting blown up are strictly verboten. Too edgy, too "now", too "hey, that was only 6 months ago!"; after all we can't support viewing people that supported a dictatorship dying on film NOW.

Only old pictures of people that supported a dictatorship 60 years ago getting blown up are acceptable viewing.

Today I finally saw the video..  not as if I were trying to search for it, just managed to look at the right channel at the right moment.

Thats the war... nothing extraordinaire in it.. except I'd like to see longer footages with more 'serious' action than only blowing up some inviduals on the ground... along with some footage from before entering the shooting range and when leaving..

It was graphic and people got blown up, killed.  Iraqis most likely.

Ive seen Americans getting killed, Ive seen Russians and Japanese getting killed.  Germans, Canadians, Australians...

I think Ive seen Spaniards and Italians die violently.  Would have to check.

Ive heard it said that over 10,000 militant Arabs have died at the hands of evil monstor americans since 9/11 (and a few thousand arab non-coms too, most likley).

Whats the big deal here unless you know them personally.  Its all tragic.  Humanity is just a tragedy happening day by day.  No biggie.

Al jazeera would show video of Americans getting killed. They show video or Arabs getting killed. The Arab world and indeed much of the world is a lot less squeamish about showing death on television. For example it is common to see photos of the bodies of Russian civilians killed in suicide bombings in newspapers or on TV.

Western media in general and American in particular don't/can't show the actuality of war, yet plenty of video is available. They are accused of 'sanitising war'  Left wing journalists point this out all the time. Yet the right wing would be outraged if western troops were shown been killed.  It's a no win situation. The media then tend to avoid showing anything meaningful at all.  I have yet to see any of the powerful images of the type that came out the Vietnam war or WW2 for either Gulf war.

The helicopter video was graphic in one sense but at the same time it showed nothing of the butcher's yard the scene must have been in reality. Perhaps if we saw more of the reality of war some people wouldn't be quite so enthusiastic about it.  I somehow doubt the administration would survive the public distaste caused by repeated graphic images of dead Americans killed in combat or even dead Iraqis.

However I don't think the video is suitable for this forum. There are plenty of websites which deal in this kind of thing and which I admit I tend to avoid. After all why expose yourself to something unpleasant if you can avoid it.
