Dweeb for not getting vulched?
« on: January 15, 2004, 05:39:42 PM »
Heh, last night, I had a funny experience. I was upping from a field, and I was about to get vulched, so I exited the plane. I kept doing this to blow off the 190's speed and alt so my friendlies can get an easier kill. Behold, I get called a dweeb for not letting him vulch me, and he was the idiot to blow his energy and die. Looks like there is a new form of dweebery, the "not letting me get an easy kill because I suck at air to air combat" dweeb

Oh, you want the name, I don't have it, but the last 4 letters of his name was "star" or str

Ahh.. the joys of channel 1

This is no different than the the tactics of REAL WWII fighter pilots. They would make the enemy blow  E by dissapearing over and over again on the runway.

Might be good to make planes taxi to hanger or a pad before they can end a mission.

Yea, and if a vulcher falls for it, it reflects on his inexperience.  Most people wait till the vulchee starts moving to commit. Can't exit to tower if you're moving. But I guess if someone's just flying the runway he doesn't want to bother with timing or patience. Nah, that would be tough.

i agree with Steve,  It is gamey,  you didnt see a pilot jump out of his plane OTR in real life,  however i do think it is funny to see everyone dive on the plane and then it disappears. I usually wait till a plane is is rolling a bit before I become  the vulching dweeb...

In AW we'd pop out and come back as a flak - can't do that here :)
Its based on WWII but its still a sim. Anyone repeatedly trying to vulch a disappearing plane is the dweeb - not the guy exiting to tower. I mean even dogs learn to respond a dinner bell. You pass twice and the plane vanishes, if you don't notice a pattern by the 3rd time, well you're gonna have problems in other areas. Gamey? maybe. But a heck of a lot more inteligent than the the vulcher thinking "ill' get him this time for sure!":aok :rofl

Think about it - lead turns at 1000 yards are gamey, but net lag. Quick 45 degree turns (timed right) while getting run down are gamey - again - net lag. At times the rules of the sim and the environment it exists in, must take precedence.

Tonight i was flyin out of A45, rooks were comin in pairs or lil groups so i was in a 190D-9, this P-38 comes down from high alt so i wait around about 7-8k for him to get done chasing people and blowing his E, sure enough he starts to climb out so i fly over to him and he sees me and attemps to run but it dont work, so hes trys to rope me, big mistake considering his low E and my high E.

I blow off his wing and other parts, and what do i see appear on ch. 1, haha thats sad loser knit 190 using no tracers or something to that effect, and he went on and on about how i killed him with no tracers, and that if i had tracers on he probably would have killed me:rofl :lol

Most this was enjoyment as i was laughin so hard, i couldnt believe it, Get called a dweeb for using no tracers, he told me i had no skill and that this game was fake cuz in "RL" alll pilots used tracers, his name was Scremn

Ah, yeah!...Yes, I can attest they were real tactics in WWII. I've got documents that demonstrate it. Especially the one taken from a Fort's belly gunner, that saw the same guy doing the pop-out thinghy while straffing the runway in his plane flying 100 ft. over the enemy base. (Oh! he mention too, as strange as it can sound, every single gunner in the 3-ship formation was shooting EXACTLY at the same point, and the enemies were popping out pony after pony...can you believe it?). Unfortunately, this guy died when his crazy pilot attempted to dive-bomb a carrier, I think it was in the Pacific Theater. Dunno, because the coastline was funny looking.

Might be good not to whine about history in a MA environment. ;)

peek a boo is not only gamey but cruel...  If yu do it to rooks you may have blown the only kill he would get that hour...  no wonder his frustration came out!

perhaps we should model a faster plane so that the rooks can get to the vultch faster and get away better.   That would help and compliment the numbers strat.
