Impromptu AHII scenario...who's in?
« on: January 15, 2004, 09:33:54 AM »
Anyone interested in setting up an impromptu scenario Saturday night, say around 9 PM Eastern?  I'm thinking a ground battle, with no planes except a single unarmed C-47 per side, for reccee.  Pick two v-bases not to far apart and "release the hounds!"  Tank-heavy formations, but with maybe a quarter of the gv's made up of M3's with gv supplies.  The M3's could be used for ground scouting, and to re-arm/repair tanks.  We could make it a capture-the-flag scenario, where both sides have a farm building designated as their field command post (CP).  The side that manages to get a tank or M3 inside the building (a barn or building with holes big enough to drive into) of the opposing side's CP wins.  Proof of CP occupation would be a short film clip of you driving into the building (so we can check the map during film).  Who's in?  Post here if you're interested.

I'll be glad to act as CM, at least for the purpose of side balancing.  We don't have any CM privileges, so we can't control things such as arena settings or player ride-selection.  It will have to be under the honor system, and we'll need to warn non-participants to stay out of the combat area.   However, the size of the map and the low player density should allow us to keep the action isolated.

Also, anyone interested in assuming command of a side, please so indicate.

Looks like it would be fun. This way we could ping the C-47 to death with the gun mounts from the tanks if they flew low enough to spot enemy armor. :)

Won't work if you're spawning to enemy fields/vbases but as Cooley mentioned this is fixed for the next beta version.

Yeah, I tried to test it out and find a good location on the map.  When I tried to spawn away from my base, I died.  When I spawned at my base, I would begin driving only to tumble into the AoD.  The tank would begin tumbling over and over, the sound of my treads speading up faster and faster a mind-numbing testiment to the folly of trying this until it's fixed.  Hopefully, it will get fixed in the next beta release.  Perhaps then...
