With Delhomme following Brad Johnson and Kurt Warner, this is the fourth Super Bowl in five featuring a former NFL Europe quarterback.

I've always thought that the NFL needed a real minor league system. College football is a joke and doesn't prepare them very well for The League.

I have a feeling the NFL GM's and coaches are getting some ideas and thinking about which of their back-up QB's they'll be sending to NFL Europe for Finishing School this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Joe Hamilton (TB Bucs), Koy Detmer (Eagles), Mike McMahon (Lions), Carson Palmer (Bengals), Jesse Palmer (Giants), Rex Grossman (Bears), and Craig Nall (Packers) playing overseas. These are all guys who are playing behind experienced NFL QBs nearing the end of their useful shelf life, or are on NFL teams that are struggling offensively.

The risk is that the guys could suffer career-ending injuries playing over in Europe. But then again, if they don't get the experience, how much of a career could they really have in the NFL?

Does NFL Europe have any kind of following over there? Just curious. I saw a couple games on TV and it seemed like hardy anyone was in the stands.

College football cannot prepare a QB worth a damn. When your WR's are 20 yards open 80 percent of the time its hellaeasy.
Arena football teams have better defences and lower scores then a NCAA game.

I didn't even know there was an NFL Europe. Doesn't get any airtime on any of the major channels in Britain as far as I know.

Man, you did not see Frankfurt at home then, they are crazy here
sold out every home game. More fans then their soccer team.

The NFL went to "the combines" to determine who was and wasn't a good quarterback. You must be between 6' and 6'4", run a 4.5s 40, and be able to throw 60 yards. The rest they figure they can teach you. What they ended up with are a bunch of quarterbacks that can't read defenses, panick at the first sign of pressure and have zero touch when throwing anything but a rocket pass.

The guys that excelled at the latter things, were required to prove themselves elsewhere because the NFL is not capable of recognizing that type of tallent.

Actually, I think Joe Hamilton played over there last year. In the 2003 NFL draft the Bucs picked up Chris Simms (Phil Simms' son, I think). I'm guessing he'll be applying for his visa soon. He's supposed to have some talent, just needs some experience. Right now he's 3rd on the depth chart behind Brad Johnson and Shaun King. King's contract may be expiring soon if the Bucs don't renew it, and King's already been a starter for the Bucs under Dungy so NFL Europe wouldn't be much of a Finishing School for him.
