Most everyone HATES the Me 262, but how about...
« on: November 04, 2000, 08:54:00 PM »
The HE 162 is hardly 'UBER' as seen by the data, but I think it'd be a great addition as the only game I've ever seen it in was a ALL-TIME CLASSIC  "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe"

Performance:
Maximum Speed: 30 Second Thrust Rating
553 mph (890 kph) at sea level
562 mph (905 kph) at 19,690 ft
525 mph (845 kph) at 36,090 ft
Maximum Speed: At normal maximum thrust
491 mph (790 kph) at sea level               521 mph (838 kph) at 19,690 ft
475 mph (765 kph) at 36,090 ft
Flight Endurance: At full throttle
30 minutes at sea level
48 minutes at 19,690 ft
83 minutes at 36,090 ft
Range: At Full Throttle
242 mls (390km) at sea level
385 mls (620km) at 19,690 ft
Climb Rate:
3,780 ft/min (19.2m/sec)sea level
1,950 ft/min (9.9m/sec) at 19,690 ft
315 ft/min (1.6m/sec) at 36,090 ft
Armament:
Two 20mm Mg 151/20 cannon with 120 rpg

GODS!!! I miss SWOTL
Wish they'd redo the grahics and re-release it!!

I've always wanted Heinkel 162 in AH

Though, fuel multiplier would be a squeak..
fuel multiplier is great in reducing range, but in some planes it limits altitude badly too..
and of course british, german, italian and soviet planes suffers from this most, because they don't have big internal tanks and only one droptank or none..

(go yanks go!)

With the fuel multiplier, He 162 would flame out on the runway...

But if we got rid of the fuel multiplier (please oh please) then it would be a very interesting plane.

I'd love to see an arena with Meteor, Me 262, He 162, Ar 234, even P-80.

Hmm.. He162 looks alot like A-10
Just get rid of that engine on top of the plane and add couple in the sides...

Two other planes I'd LOVE to see in AH and as a great equalizers to the OSTWIND:

Performance:
Maximum Speed: 620km/h (385 mph)
Initial climb: 2,133ft/min (650m/min)
Range: (with full bomb load): 1,447 miles (2330km)
Service Ceiling: 32,800 ft. (10,000m)
Armament: Two remotely controlled powered barbettes on sides of fuselage each housing one 13mm MG131
And
Internal weapons bay housing various  combinations of weapons ranging from 7.92mm  MG 17 machine guns, MG 151's, Mk 108 30mm    cannon, BK5 50mm cannon with 21 rounds all the way up to 210mm rockets in a rotary tube  configuration (tested, but poor results prevented front-line use)
Or
Two 1,102 lb. (500kg) Bombs
And
External Racks for two 1,102 lb(500kg) Bombs
Plus
Two Ruestatz external packs housing Mg 151, Mk 108 or Mk 103 cannons fitted to some variants.

However IF HTC doesn't ever see fit to give us the Me 410 then I'd be satisfied OSTERSIZING the Ostie with:

JU-87G (Gustav)
In 1943 the first G-1's entered service (these being converted from D-3's).
The G-1 was designed for one purpose only, to kill tanks (in a way, along with the Il-2 Stormavik, the ancestor of the A-10 Warthog).  To accomplish this mission, the Gustav was equipped with two 37mm Flak 18 cannons. The G-1, and later the G-2 (converted from the long wingspan D-5) proved to be highly successful in "tankbusting", soon earning nicknames like 'Kanonenvogel' (Cannonbird) and 'Panzerknacker' (tank cracker)
Most Gustavs were used on the Eastern front but could be found on the Western front as well by the end of the war.

Yea.. we get bunch of american iron (and wood) for 1.05, but not a single foreign plane, boat or vehicle.

I don't care what it would be or what nationality, I'd just wish there would be other than US stuff too.

pretty please

fishu you are correct.   We need to add more soviet planes like the P39 and B25 or more British planes like the Martlett and P51 Mk1.

dont mistake HE 162 being uber, I think the current nikis can compete with it JUST FINE.
HE 162 had wood wings that were GLUED to the fuselage, so a few pings should brake it apart.

Personally, I'd love the Me 262 to be in AH. But the Pony/Jug/Hog and NIKI drivers would pitch a fit.

The way I see the US and Japanese planes are all late war, everything else is mid war, (with the possible exception of the Me-109G10, and that's only because of it's motor) this hardly seems fair, also because the Me 262 saw significant Combat I really feel it should be included in the planeset.

But I'm not so naive as to think we'll ever see it, plus add to the mix the replication here of WB JETDAY whining that goes on over at Argo's AGW forum.

I gotta be honest here, with the reduction in price over at WB, plus the updated graphics coming soon, and the larger planeset, if HTC doesn't start doing and adding planes that EVEN OUT the MA playing field, I'm gonna have to switch back.

Planes like:
Me 410
FW 190 Dora
Me 262
He 162
Ki 84
Ki 61
Spit14

These planes all were late war like the NIKI, P-51D, P-38L, P-47D, F4UC-1 and F6F.

Comon, the Fw 190A5 or A8 against the P-51D? Why does HTC think Kurt Tank designed the Fw 190Dora or anyway? Musta been purely for Hi-Altitude BUFF intercepts huh?

I thought that current cannons does that anyway?

and how could it be any worse than zeke...
already zeke takes bunch of hits and still flies..  while even P-47 can go down with less hits.
