I just want to say that the LW effort and teamwork were excellent last night. The plan wasn't such a big deal, just a massed attack, but the way the fighters took on the interceptors and the bombers nailed London was awesome.
But, the biggest thing for us was the large amount of pilots who joined the buffs as gunners....to those a big !
According to my calculations we lost 71% (37 of 52) of our fighters (OUCH!) while the Brits lost 76%
We lost 27% (25 of 93) of our bombers (wow!) and in total lost 62 of 145 aircraft or 43% while laying virtual waste to London-town.
I heard some complaints that the buffs were abandoned by the fighters....possibly so, but fuel was a major issue. I never really expected the fighters to make it to target anyway, just had some wild hope that they might. The allies nailed the fighters quickly and the fights were furious, allied pilots.
I blew the part about keeping everyone close, it just didn't happen that way as the 109's and half the 110's were ahead of schedule and wound up doing a bit of flying back and forth (burning fuel). My fault there....we left the rally point too early or I miscalculated the buffs and 110's flight times. Guess I need to work on that, eh?
