I can remember one time when i was monitoring in the CFR barn in Okinawa...

F18 pilot: Tower this is Flight XXXX declaring an emergency.

Tower: Go ahead Flight xxxx what is the nature of your emergency??

F18 Pilot: Tower I am unable to see landing lights I have lost all vision.

Tower: Plz Repaeat??

F18: I have lost all vision, unable to land.. need assistance on landing.

(SQUELCH... ALL Crash Crew responding)

Pilot lands safely with help and as we get to him we discover why he was unable to see.

" Pilots: Cold, steely eyed, weapons systems managers who kill bad people and break things. However, they can also be very charming and personable. The average Pilot, despite sometimes having a swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring. These feelings just don’t involve anyone else. "

"It's not that all pilots are good-looking. It’s just that good-looking people seem more capable of flying airplanes.

Another I saw on a t-shirt went along the lines of: "Pulling back on the stick can be fun, but when inverted pulling back can be expensive."

General Curtis E. LeMay was inspecting one of his B-29 crews prior to a mission when the Aircraft Commander came up to the General who was at the time smoking his cigar:
A/C  "General, there's no smoking within 50 feet of the aircraft, It could explode."
LeMay "It wouldn't dare!"

What is the difference between an SR-71 and a Porcupine?
The Porcupine has it's "salamanders" on the outside.

An ex SR-71 Jock, (Colonel Joe Kinego, Deputy Commander for Operations 28 BMW/DO) who I used to work for when I was at Ellsworth AFB, SD, was once explaining to a young, buxom and none too bright Command Post Controller that the SR-71 A/C and RSO had to completely brief what they would say BEFORE each mission as the aircraft flew so fast (Mach 3+) that if the RSO tried to talk to the Pilot, the pilot would never hear what was said because of flying faster than the speed of sound....Conversely, the RSO wouldn't be able to understand what the pilot said as it would go by much too fast.

I thought I read this a while back....."Can't talk now....shooting!" Bud Anderson? I Googled it and nothing came up. He was being radioed by one of his squad mates during a dogfight and that was his reply. The quote was used to help boost moral in the US.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

I was always partial to:

Basic Flying Rules: “Try to stay in the middle of the air. Do not go near the edges of it. The edges of the air can be recognized by the appearance of ground, buildings, sea, trees and interstellar space. It is much more difficult to fly there.” - Anonymous

Capt. Wilb Bill Kelso "Kid, you gotta get that sub"
Wally Stephens "What sub?"
CWBK "The Jap sub"
WS "where?"
CWBK "The ocean, lame-o"

How did this thread go 11 years without a quote from "1941"? The last line is my favorite part, but it needed some context.......

Airplane of course...........

There's no reason to become alarmed, and we hope you'll enjoy the rest of your flight. By the way, is there anyone on board who knows how to fly a plane?

NFWS Instructor to Student:

Inst- why would you make a vertical move like that

Student- are you saying I should have done a roll, or I should have done a negative G pushover?

Inst- I'm saying you are should-ing all over yourself and I'd like you to stop now.
