slight freeze up problem
« on: January 25, 2004, 04:32:14 PM »
Since I downloaded beta 12, I've been getting the occasional freeze up in Aces High II.  Hardcore freezes too, can't contro+alt+delete out of them and have to pull the plug on my PC.

Anyone else having this problem?

Sorry about the delay in replying...for some reason this thread didn't send me an email or show up in my user cp when you replied.

It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the plane I'm flying.  It seemed to happen when i hit buttons; ie i would click the 'hanger' button or the 'setup' button or whatever and it would freeze.  However, this problem hasn't occurred much recently so I'm hoping it just fixed itself, as these sorts of things sometimes do.

Thanks.

ps. it would happen soon after I started AHII...before I had a chance to actually fly anything.  Usually within seconds of starting it.

Yep!  Same as Octavius.  When I encounter another a/c a small hitch when I see em'.  I am worried about the skin thing!  AH II is loooking for the skin.  I have seen this in Forgotten Battles and in WarBirds.

OBTW  - Running a 9600 XT with Omega Drivers, Cat 3.7, 3.8, 3.10 crappy FPS.  Downloaded and installed the NEW Cat 4.1's.  Excellent!  Not like AH I but 30-40 runway 50's lo alt and looking 45 up or 90 up they hit 100.  I have refresh rate set to 100 and VSYNC on.  Also running AFx2, AAx4.  This is good!

All,

I also get that slight freeze when clicking buttons.  Also, when I first log into the offline area, I get a weird meeage that says "invalid model number" or "you cannot fly your plane form that field". But if I go to another field, and then come back to the original one it works fine.  Also, I get some  delays when I hit the stall buzzer or fire off i few quick rounds when flying. I just got a brand new computer, so there is no way that it is momory or processor issues, or video card stuff. I alos turned mip mapping off, and didnt change anything.  Do I need to tweak something somehow?

Hi hitech

Is it not already not done - is it possible to preload all aircrafts in one go at init.

In Warbirds you have a init.cfg file where
we can put things like :
.preload xxx (aircraft number)
.preload yyy (etc etc)
.gamma x.xx (gamma percent)
.trimrepeat

etc
etc
