People arguing for the use and acceptance of profanity?  LOL!!!

Yeah, profanity improves the quality or life!

Give me a break. :(

Hey, how about we start expressing the virtues of racism or necrophilia.

Look, some people find profanity just as offensive, so why not leave it at that...

UGH!!!

is there a list of key words for the moderator to look for or is it just his opinion of what is a bad word?  i got a warning for typing **** the other day and was surprised.  granted i didnt type it anymore, but that wasnt the first time ive used it.  it was the first warning for it tho.  the system seems to work, just not very consistent i guess.

ok, mebbe that word is on the list.  it got *'d.  oh well, now i know.

How to tell, if what you typed didn't show in the buffer and you got a warning. It was automatic. If you type it again and it dosn't show and get an instant mute it was automatic.

Beetle, go suck an egg HiTech:)

And on a side note the history of the word ****.
It actualy stands for ship high in transit. When dung used to be sold as fertilizer there had been a few fire/explosion on board ships do to the gass build up when enclosed in a hold. To vent the gass it was needed to put all the dung containers on top.

There are alot of minors who are active in all arenas at any given time. If you wouldn't behave like that in front of them in real life, why on earth would you feel you have the right to behave like that online?

Kids get 'poisoned' much harder with other things than reading a light hearted :'****'
Yesterday i was severaly attacked on ch1 because i asked for verbal fairness against a certain newbie, which brought home his 2 HO kills.
I was called gay and so on because of my intervention. Several times. Obviously without any mod action.
Kids shall not learn to use the word 'shiit', they learn instead to call someone gay?
I appreciate the presence of a moderator very much, but he/she should work at least better than Pawlos dog.

I dont use profanity, but I discovered we have an automatic censor when I got muted for saying prettythang but with S's. I was talking on a private channel and was telling someone in reagards to the trees at the edge of the FinnRuss runways:

"somebody needs to get a chainsaw, im tried of hitting these trees and having to pick splinters out of my prettythang"

I got muted for 5 or 10 min, I forget now. It was not an insult towards anyone (well, maybe towards myself), and I am now very careful as to what I type, even in a playful manner.

I do not argue for profanity, but the things I see on Ch 1 that upset me are not profane in the literal sense, but are sometimes extremely hateful as has been mentioned above, IE Race, religion. Hard to monitor that stuff, but that is far worse than crude profanity IMO.

Now your basic argument is that you were muted but "Hey theres other stuff worse than what i did" just dosn't cut it. I belive you were muted for arguing the point of simply being asked not to use profanity. Frankly arguing is much worse than any kind of slip up because it implies that you don't wish to follow the rules.

The real point is you were asked politly, modirators are not realy over zellious but when they ask something, and some one basicly sais screw you, ill just do what i want around the rules they realy have no choice but to mute them. The modirators help me out emensly, they are just enforcing my rules, not making them, and if you decide to pick a small fight with them, don't be surprised that you end up loosing.

HiTech

I wasnt very surprised to loose a small fight with the mod. :) I was more amused than angry. And its not really a big deal for me. As i said, i appreciate the presence of mods.
But i also was surprised and dissapointed that the mod takes care for a light hearted:'shiit' and the really bad things on ch1 are happening without any intervention.
This thread isnt a 'i have been treatened bad' whine. I want the mods to do more than just sort out the ugly words.

He probably got muted because it seems he'll be a "high maintenence" player - you know the type that needs some reaction or hair tossle every half hour or so. Well, he got a reaction so I don't see the problem.

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!
Funny how us "Grown Ups" cant even control ourselves at a (KeyBoard).... We call it a Slip? It isn't like it just slips off the tongue like when you Mash you finger with a hammer, or drop a bolder on your toe. On the contrary....You Must TYPE the message into the text buffer..then hit ENTER. this requires a few more seconds of thought. So...think it..but DON'T Type it!

LOL! I don't speak any German, but I believe there's a German word meaning eggs which equates to the limey word, bollocks.

Speaking of which, I watched the movie "Get Carter" on American TV many years ago. Needless to say, all the F and S was edited out, but then someone bellows "Bollocks!". I almost dropped my beer. And then I realised - back before the days of the web, that word meant nothing in America. :lol

Straffo! Le mot "ball", c'est un mot qui veut dire (aux états unis) les rapports sexuels!

Hey cuss all you want in greek or Italian or polish they wont have a clue what ur saying.

There lies the problem.

If your gonna have human beings as moderators in the game thats fine.
But you really should have a moderator for every language on earth.
otherwise it smells of discrimination.

Not trying to stir the pott just trying to bring another veiw point foward thats all.

So you expect moderators to be multilingual?  Ya gotta be kidding me. We pay $14.95/month for this game, with that comes some limitations.  The moderators are a good example of this.
Some people get muted when they might not deserve it.

So freeking what?!!!!!!
They didn't get booted from the game, imprsioned, banned, fined, beaten, or humiliated.  10 minutes of silence in a game where you can succeed w/out ever typing or saying a word is nothing.  These people that cry about getting muted unjustly haven't ever said anything that I've seen must ABSOLUTELY be said.  The world didn't end because they were silenced for a few minutes. The "war" wasn't lost.  No animals or children got hurt(unless the same muted people started beating members of their own household, which I believe to be possible since they are lame enough to get upset over being muted in the first place.)
