Great, and Ostwind of the seas. Shall we start whining now, or wait 'til it actually arrives?

"...or wait 'til it actually arrives?"

Wouldn't that be unusual and breaking with tradition?

I wouldn't get excited about the PT firepower- it's not like it can capture a base or anything.

...in addition its main function may be swarming destroyers, attacking carriers, raiding tankers, and coastal installations. It shouldn't be anything Ostwinds can't handle, though I would be wary of them in an aircraft...

If it did that it would have to be cut in half every mission by a destroyer. Kinda put a crimp in it's effectiveness.

They were made of wood, right?

Wanna bet they got harder hulls than a battleship?

So much for rescuing Mac from Corregidor with 6 50 cals.

I am whining early, gotta beat the rush ya know.

Laminated plywood hulls. Lotsa firepower; fast and dangerous as hell if yer a Japanese Barge skipper skulking along a coastline at night. But in broad daylight a sharp fighter pilot with a pal and both well versed in taking osty's down on the fly will put his bellybutton right up on the beach.

Be glad they decided on a US PT.. and not a German E Boat. that thing would scare the hell outta me. Similar firepower; faster, and a fargin steel hull.

No small boat should be out in the daytime when fighters are around.   E boats were better but a steel hull full of holes was worse than a wooden one full of holes.
