Cita, when will you release the new map?
I'm ready to return for it!

Maybe my new callsign will be "Hermitsu". :p

im gonna finish it up pretty quickly. not gonna add any more historic areas. terrain layout of the islands will stay as it currently is.

I have spawn points, factories, shore batteries, ports and carriers left to place then it will be done.

Corregidor
« Reply #200 on: February 07, 2004, 05:37:12 PM »
Fester,
I see that your done with historic islands. I was hoping for Corregidor to be included. Maybe if you can't make an historic Corregidor, how about a field at the top of an island surrounded by a thick ring of shore batterys and ack emplacements?

lots of info at http://corregidorisland.com/

The defense of Corregidor was the immediate responsibility of the Philippine Coast Artillery Command under Major General George F. Moore. To carry out this important mission, 23 batteries were set up on Corregidor and the adjoining islands at the outbreak of World War II in 1941. These consisted of 56 coastal guns and mortars which formed the main power of the island fortress. Corregidor had 13 anti-aircraft artillery batteries with 76 guns, twenty-eight of which were 3-inch and forty-eight 50-caliber. With all the gun emplacements set up in the island, Batteries Geary and Way proved to be the best and most effective for the defense of Corregidor during the siege by the Japanese forces.

I would but I got a criptic email from Hitech saying my map is quickly becoming unaceptable so I might have to delete all the historic fields and replace them with standard ones.

O, jeebus...   :lol

Someone tell HT that history isn't something to be ignored or - worse yet - feared.

Someone tell HT that named fields have been done already - years ago.  It was accepted then.  It'll be accepted now.

Someone tell HT that historical representation helps immerse the player deeper into the action.  And, this immersion is exactly what that T.O.D. stuff is going to need if the "new geeks" are going to pay to play.

I've said it many times...it's boring fighting for A:xxx and V:zzz.    Mitsu Jima sounds a helluva lot more interesting.  :aok

Just my 2 cents...now I'm broke.

i think it is more of a technical problem than a design problem.

when I added nonstandard crap to the festerma it made vh and hq downtimes go haywire during primetime. im not sure how far I can deviate before I get into technical trouble of the same type with this arena.

but on a more positive note heres the finished f4u corsair paintjobs

f4u1c top (ramzeys f4u skin)
f4u1d middle (f4u1a)
f4u4

Yes it is though I'd like to see it as the default VF-17 skin used on the birdcage. That is if the 1a variant never makes it to AH (it's probably way low on the list ... which, actually, I can understand).

Shore Batts
« Reply #209 on: February 08, 2004, 12:54:19 PM »
Fester,
I experienced the VH down forever syndrome last night on your map, so I understand the technical problems. It was the V53,54,55 series that once killed never comes back.

My two cents on your pacific map...I hope you will include lots of shore batts. There will be CVs popping up all over the place, and often the CV group will cap a field before a defense can be organized. The last defense available are the shore batts. On some maps the fields frequently don't have SBs. And on many there was no thought to the placement. The SBs are too far back from the edge of the hill/mountain, therefore have no way to shoot down, they point at nothing !

I totally agree that names are much more interesting than A28 and V54 !!!

Thanks for all your hard working in bringing the best maps to AH.
