Boat to transport gv's?
« on: January 30, 2004, 12:13:54 PM »
I was thinking that this would be an interesting idea.  It would launch from the CV, carrying whatever could fit in it.  It would move a little bit faster then the carrier group.

But it would be rather fragile.  If it sinks, so do all the gv's unless you can luckily get an LVT going.

What do you think?

Ok, Here is what I want to see for Aces High 2

GV Transports - Explinations are as follows

Gliders to transport GVs - You load up a glider with 2 or 5 Gv's and take off. Your friends are in the GVs and you pilot the glider, You drop them and then drive one out yourself. or do a Cargo drop where you land, drop em off, and take off again.

It was very real for tanks to arrive in boats...

However, the boats were never really meant to be used during combat, hence why they'd be vulnerable.

Show me any WWII transport plane that could carry five Tigers... The Me 321 Gigant could carry up to twenty-two metric tons of freight -- and the PzKpfW IV weighs twenty-six tons.

Those are LSTs (Landing Ship Tank).  Could be modeled after the LVTs.  Would give the jabos something to do, though if you had enough of them they could become a real problem.  All it would take is for one or two tanks to get ashore for some intense battle from a carrier attack.

We used to have the dragon's teeth along the shoreline.  Kinda miss it in a way.  Made landing a goon much more difficult, and provided cover for gv battles.

Aces High was never very suited for gv's...The maps are much too large without much clutter (citys etc) in it.

I go with the landing craft idea. I'd love to see something faster then those darn amphibians...
