Need Skin Help
« on: January 31, 2004, 10:22:29 AM »
trying to create a p-51d skin using arcsoft Photostudio5..The skin I made looks great but I cannot get it to work. I have followed the instructions and everytime I select the skin in the hanger, AH2 just exits and reverts back to windows. I have no I dea what causes this. All the other skins that I have got from other people work fine. Any ideas?

make sure that before you save the BMP file you reduce the color depth of the texture to 256 colors (8 bits) ;)

Well, reducing from 16.7 mil of colors to just 256 you always lose some... The good thing is that you are not likely going to use all the colors the rainbow has for your camo, so the program then generates a palette of colors which are as close as possible to those actually used in the image/skin.

The best way to treat the transitions between colors is to let the program to use so called error-duffusion and it should be an option in the program you are using...

Good luck ;)

Photostudio is one of the worst for color loss when converting, photoshop is the best by far with almost no color loss.
I don't no if this applies to ah2 but with ah1 editer if the bmp ext is in upper case it would crash, and I beleve photostudio by default will creat the ext in upper case.
