mediterranian league
« on: September 28, 2000, 07:13:00 PM »
Hi

I am forming a mediterranian league, it will meet bi weekly for 2 hours a week starting on 7 october for a total run of 1 month. (Saturdays 3-5 PM and tuesdays 9-11 PM CST).

Here are the rules for eligability:

1)Desire to have a good time
2)Ability to make it to at least 50% of the meetings of the league
3) Pre registration required, registration begins soon (Busc has kindly offered to make a java signup form)

Here are the rules of the league

This will be a rough approximation of the invasion of sicily, and will involve historical planesets and squads (group designation up  to the squad leader as long as that squad flew the required planeytype in the mediterranian theatre) of a maximum eight people each squad, and a total of eight squads per country ( 6 fighetr and 2 bomber squads per country). The planesets will be as follows:

Axis
----

1) 109 G2 - 1 squad (CO is Camo)
2) 109 G6 - 1 squad (CO is Pongo)
3) 190 A5 - 1 squad (CO is hblair)
4) 190 A8 - 1 squad (CO is NathBDP)
5) C.205 - (CO is Busc) (1st Gruppo Caccia)
6) C.205 - (CO is Gatt) (4^ Stormo Caccia )
7,8) Ju-88, 2 squads

Allies
----
1) Spitfire IX (CO is Wolf37)
2) Spitfire IX - (CO is kbman)
3) Typhoon - (CO is Manedew)
4) P47-d25 - 1 squad (CO is Ripsnort)
5) P38 (squad 1) (CO is Central)
6) P38J - (squad 2) (CO is Citabria)
7) B26 - 1 squad (CO is hangtime)
8) B17 - 1 squad (CO is Sunchser)

Objectives
-----------
Objectives are as in the MA: field capture. Only difference will be that there won't be lone wolves, every thing will be organized by the flight leader, who will receive misison priorities from teh country leader. Squad performance will be tracked, and emphasis will be placed not on kills but on completing the misison ( IE if you force a jabo mission to drop ordnance and abort their attack, that is still a successful misison)

Additionally, this will be similar to the TOD in that there wilol be limited times you can die and still play. each squad will be allowed to "revive" 1 member per session, granted their countries barracks were not killed the previous session. They will also be allowed to "revive" 2 airframes per mission, granted their ammo factory was not destroyed the previous day ( less than 20% operational will count as destroyed). The the home airbase of a squad is captured, they will be inoperable for the following day pendingrelocation of the squad ( so you want to protect your airfields!)

There will be additional details, but right now I basically need COs for each of the 16 squads.I posed this idea in the Med. arena and many people seemed to go for it, so if you would like to be a CO please indicate name, and the aircraft type you would like to CO and I will ask busc to put your name up on the registration page so that people may sign up to join your squadron and you can get a contact list going.

Anyways, i think this will be an exciting change of pace form the MA!

In for B17s Zig and will start looking to see what they did during the invasion of Sicily.

If you already have a B17 CO, good, I will fly for him.

Sounds great Zig   Slot me in for a 205, or, if we need, the 109G6. Hope this idea gets a lot of support. You guys that fly in Zigs nightly raids should be singning up for this cause you know it will be good   Man, if my dad (served in Greek Army) ever gets wind of me flying Italian planes...

"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown
