Just some random personal Top 5 lists

Books (in no particular order):
Without Remorse - Tom Clancy
Catch 22 - Joseph Heller
The First Team - John B. Lundstrum
Black Hawk Down - Mark Bowden
Smoker - Greg Rucka (my favorite of the Atticus Kodiak series - highly recommended)

War Movies:
Black Hawk Down
Kelly's Heroes
The Longest Day
Tora Tora Tora
The Blue Max

Westerns (non-John Wayne):
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Once Upon a Time in the West
High Noon
Open Range - much more entertaining, IMO, than Dances With Wolves
Unforgiven

John Wayne Movies:
Donovan's Reef
McClintock
The Searchers
True Grit
The Quiet Man

Action Movies (non-war):
Boondock Saints
Die Hard
Pirates of the Carribean
The Killer (my favorite of John Woo's Hong Kong movies)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (absolutely my favorite movie of all time - reluctant hero who kills Nazi's - whats not great about it?)

Sci-Fi Movies:
The Final Countdown
Blade Runner
Aliens (the greatest combination of action and Sci-Fi)
Minority Report (a film noir movie with a sci-fi setting)
Star Wars (the one that came out in 77, not the crap that is recent nor the edited one that added the worst thing ever - Greedo shooting first)

Car Chases in Movies:
The Rock (who wouldn't want to run a VW bug over with a Hummer?)
Ronin
The French Connection
Die Another Day (Bond car vs. another "Bond" car)
Bullit - the greatest ever

TV Shows:
Magnum PI - "Ivan, did you see the sunrise this morning?" - my favorite single episode of any show
ER - the first 3 seasons
NYPD Blue - with Jimmy Smits
Homicide - most underrated police show
24 - one man saves the world in real time - the pace of the show is like crack and about as addicting as it too, farfetched, but entertaining
