I don't know about giving weapons to kids ... in any way shape or form. Granted that it's possible to train kids, someone would have to decide whether a kid is capable of making a sensible decision of when and how to use that weapon.

As for punishment for child abduction: whip 'em to death.

If any abuse occured while the child was abducted: death in the most painful, torterous, and inhumane way possible.

I've come to believe that there's a reasonably safe way to enhance the safety of your kid. When they have developed some responsibility give them a 'marker-can' (a spray-canister with agressive blue paint). The paint initially consists of some form of foam which is capable of reaching its target across considerable distances. It then sticks to the perpetrator's face and immediately eliminates vision. When the foam is washed of the blue paint remains for at least three days, makes it easier to identify the SOB. Unlike maze and pepperspray it isn't illegal here and when used inappropriately the consequences are overseeable.

Especially the last consideration is important to me (you know, the schoolyard-brawl)

as bad as some of you hate it, more cameras would help

if the perp knew he was on candid camera he'd think twice or at least it'd limit his locations

and with convicted perps - kill them

Start your kids in Hapkido at age 5 and maybe by the time there young ladies they will be able to kick the watermelon out of a would be attacker.

And as crappy as it sounds IF I had kids they would have some sort of tracking chip in them.

Hell we use Lojack for our cars why not our kids.

I'm wondering if you are also planning for an asteriod collision.

Almost ALL child abductions are by the non-custodial parent. Worry more about keeping your marriage happy than arming your kids... sheeesh!

It depends on where you are, MT.

Most parents do need to worry about this and train thier kids on what to do if it happens -  throughout thier childhood.

Another thing you can do is to know the location of at least some of the sexual predators. Each state has their own sexual offender and predator database.

The database for Florida can be accessed HERE

All you have to do is go to the search page and enter the name of your city or county and it will list names, photos and addresses of every single one of them living there who have been convicted for applicable sex offenses ... of course, this doesn't identify all of them.

lasersailor184: Nothing you can really do about it.

What kind of statement is that?
I just said that I can arm my child with a deadly weapon that does nor require physical strength to use.
You may have an opinion on how effective it would be or legality of it or suggestion on the implementation details but to say I can do nothing is plain nonsense.

Except execution for those that abduct children.

I assume you mean legal execution by the state? Well, that is exactly what I can do nothing about! So you got it totally inverted.

That'd be a hellofa reason not to.

There are hellofa reason not to. "Society cannot take life". "Abductors deserve mercy", "Abductors had tough childhood", "Abductors can change and become different people",  "Plea bargain in return for saving the prosecution the effort", etc., etc... The usual crap.

Eagler: as bad as some of you hate it, more cameras would help...

Kids have many reasons to avoid cameras. That's where the predators will look for them.

mrblack: Start your kids in Hapkido at age 5...

I checked - they accept them at age 4. But it is rather inconvenient, remaking one's life around a possible attacker. That is why we have weapons - to serve as time-savers and equalizers.

midnight Target: if you are also planning for an asteriod collision

I was going to write that I don't since it would be futile and I am not crazy, but then I realised that I actually do plan for that!
I am working towards my descendants being intelligent and wealthy and living in a free society enjoying and promoting scientific and technological progress - so that they could have an option when an asteroid becomes a threat.
I am not planning for an asteroid hit in my lifetme, if that's what you mean.

The problem is Miko is you might not always have a "weapon" with you.
And besides Hapkido will teach you kids respect disipline and corodination.

Besides most kids enjoy the stuff .
gives them a place to spend there energy LOL.

I intend to for the same good reasons you've cited.
But since I do not believe in a fair fight or giving them second chances as well as in taking unnecesary risks, why use er... Hapkido to just give them bruised nuts if you can cause them to die in agony and stop being a nuisance altogether?
In fact, one does not preclude the other.

I think the best real street fighting technic there is would be Gracie jitsu

Because unlike the movies most fights end up on the ground at some point and those dudes know there watermelon in ground fighting let me tell ya.

In case you never seen em in the ultimate fighting championships they take on dudes way bigger and stronger and wear there arsess out LOL.

Now another good on Is Aki-Jitsu  Its a hybrid of aikido and ju-jitsu.

You will most likely f&^k someone up if you learn that.

I happend to like Kenpo very good for larger people like me that cant move like Bruce Lee LOL:rofl
