why do some (if not all so far) you skin(heads) keep insisting on putting the swastika's on your skins knowing full well they'll never pass HTC muster?

I'd regard myself as an historical skinner, rather than a Luftwaffe skinner. Accordingly, my personal preference would be for swastikas to available, however, using the alpha.bmp system, for them to be concealed as downloaded from HTC, then, should you wish to view them, you delete the obscuring alpha.bmp.........

Swastikas are not merely illegal in Germany, a great many people find them offensive for all sorts of reasons all over the world, but I figure it should really be a matter of personal choice whether you see them or not.

When SAC was done, we did include swastikas, but on skins I did they were generally not too obvious, by judicious "lighting".

But that was, as they say, another game.

I only had 1 actual complaint with somewhere between 25 and 35 thousand downloads, and he withdrew the complaint when I showed him how easy it was to scrub them out...

It's a judgement call on the matter of professionalism.

 
 If I was a painter and I would draw a horse, would I choose to:

a) depict the huge dick and balls as it is on the horse

 or

b) draw myself a freak horse w/o reproductive organs in regards to the fact that some people may be offended by how a horse is.

 Snuffing out the swastika takes about 0.5 seconds. I just delete the layer with a single mouse click and it is done. However, if in any case it could be avoided, I would rather paint a picture of a plane of how it was. Nobody says anything about aviation pics with German planes with swastikas. Frankly I don't expect it to be more different.

I think most of these folks are aware of this Shane and the removal of the swastikas before being submitted is no big deal. I think the skins you're currently seeing are people becoming familiar with the application and for their own edification.

I myself am very impressed by the work I've seen done to date and I all of you who are doing them.

How bout jumping into the process and showing us what you can do instead of pissing in other peoples corn flakes. (Oops sorry I forgot...it's what you do.) You come up with something reasonably good and I'll be the first to say well done.

picked up a Matchbox Collectible diecast 1/72 109g yesterday .. it did not have swastikas.
I was pleased as it allowed me to display it on my desk at work..

You're right, Eagler, neither does the 190.  That seems strange, the more you think about it -- modellers and students of history are so big on accuracy down to No Step stencils, but are denied the major tail insignia.

Both sides have valid points of view -- modern version of ploughing salt into the crop fields vs. historical accuracy.  

Tough call.  Seems like the most reasonable decision would have been to ban contemporary use of swastikas (including display of swastika flags and banners) but allow their depiction on WWII things like models (are swastikas airbrushed or otherwise taken out of WWII movies and photos?).  

Total ban closes virtually all loopholes, but seems awfully Big Brotherish.  

That said, I agree with HiTech's and apparently Matchbox's decision to ban Nazi swastikas from Aces High to conform to what I'm hearing is German law.

Is this the way it will work or just a suggestion?

Personally I am not affected by seeing a swastika the way some are, but do like the historicaly correct look of the planes.  For this reson I would personally like them in the game, but I understand why others would not and accept HT choice to not allow them by default.

I would like having the option to turn them on for my FE though.

Im same as most in this post, i like to see stuff historically accurate, eventually if its not allowed over the years it will disappear altogether and it will be forgotten, i personally dont think of the swastika as with hitler, to me, it reminds me of all the suffering german pilots went through and though they were some of the best they took great losses also.

When someone says somethin about a ww2 german pilot or soldier, its most of the time thought NAZI and that they were responsible for all the bad and BS hitler did, not nearly all germans were bad people in ww2, they were just fighting the same way everyone else was.

I understand completely why some people would not want to see swastikas, as it can also be related with all the horrible things hitler did etc, but i would like the option to view it  also, i dont see how this idea would hurt anyone, only make alot more people in the community happier.

Either way though still dont care, happens it happens, dont it dont.

Shane, some people "practice" their drawing of swastikas because they like to see their planes look real, they can still fly them offline and with a simple click it can be removed and submitted.
