I try and give them when I can.  One of the interesting parts with the 'Check 6' is how often I hear it when there is somone close on the nose but not behind me.  It's more like a proximity call :)

It makes me think of the stories you read in the books where someone hollers out a 'break' call without any ID and every plane in the fight turns on a wing to get out of the way even though there is really no reason to break.

I give check 6 calls whenever possible.  I don't necessarily expect much from players these days... but can't help but get irritated when you see a con creeping up on you with 3 friendlies behind him... none of which give you a check 6 call.

The complaint that I always though was irritating was the "where's my check 6" when you're in a heavy fight.  Alot of people need to realize there's a time you just assume someone's going to be on your 6.

I agree with Guppy - it's more of a proximity call.

Frankly, getting a check 6 too often is way better than getting none at all. I give out as many check6s I could whenever I see an enemy near a friendly.

Another thing is that people give out check6s way too late.

When an enemy plane is already diving down on a friendly, it's usually too late. Someone should have given him a check6 when the moment they saw an enemy plane nearby him. An early warning is needed, so the pre-warned friendly can check the situation, make a judgement, or request others nearby to do a specific action regarding to the bogey nearby.

When he gets a check6 call and sees a bad guy behind him at 600 yards, that's much too late and ineffective.

 ...

So, under that agenda, I give out very many check6 calls. I think probably almost everyone in Rooks has an experience of getting a check6 call from me. I really can't help it if some of those calls, were mistakenly given out.

In most cases, since I don't have a mic, I give out check 6 calls and explain the situation by radio. Also, I give check6 calls to a friendly who is being chased by an enemy to indicate that I have seen the situation, and will try to help: usually I type "keep speed up otw" in most cases.

Personally, I think the one-stroke check6 call is probably one of the best features in the game...

For me it depends on the circumstance-

If your chasing a con who is some distance out, & appears to be lining up a coutrymen, it is the proper thing to do to let that countrytmen know they are being lined up by YOUR con.

All to many times the I see someone chasing a con who is in turn lining up a countrymen, they say nothing to the countryman so that he wont do any hard evasives. If the coutrymen flies nice & strait so will the con.  CHICKEN EXCREMENT PILOTS DO THIS.

Ultimately--- its your 6, you watch it, it means more to you than to anyone else-

Mention of Vox, I have several guys in my squad that lose Vox hourly, I have lost vox no more than 5 times total. I prefer to use range radio for SA warnings most of the time. My countrymen know I always call out cons when I see them, & I always give check6s & I regularly dive in to clear countrymen in trouble. For me its a game thats more enjoyable & survivable when played as a TEAM.

I'll give a holler out on Vox if I think of it. I don't have the check6 key mapped though.

And personally, I don't like getting check 6s very much. My SA isn't perfect, yet most check6s I get do more harm than good.

1/3 of the time, it's a check 6 for a bandit I'm already evading, yet I instictually look around for ANOTHER bandit on my 6.

1/3 of the time, its really a "check 12" from a player a.) too far away to know which way the planes are pointing/moving b.) a player behind me who would very much like me to get out of the way so that he can use his hispanos/.50s from d700 out (as opposed to my suck bellybutton gunnery which requires me to be within d150 to hit anything with the ShVAK).

The rest of the time its a combination of accidental calls, jokes from squadmates/friends and maybe 1/16th of the time it's a bandit I had no idea was in the area about to kill me.

I'd rather just take the death and be ashamed of my SA failure.

I'll give them whenever I can...all ways amazed at the whinning when someone doesnt get one...had a guy call me out over vox specifically last week....

Think I "check 6'd" two guys around him before he got popped...course he could see me just fine...but not the bad guy directly between us:)...

I always say thanks...cept of course for the dweebs that will try and check 6 you off a kill....more than a few of those around.

I don't give Check 6's at all.  Why risk the chance of scaring your bait into doing something stupid while you line up for the shot on the bad guy on the bait's six?

I like chk6 even with vox.

I like chk6ing squaddies then putting a burst over their cockpit.  LOL Airow's Oh S! !! then stalling his jug and sending ord all over the map.

I love chk6ing kill stealers half a billion times.

Ack-Ack proudly sides with the CHICKEN EXCREMENT PILOTS.

What a countrymen! With friendlies like that, who needs NMEs? May as well just have the whole arena as a FFA with that mentality.

Hopefully it was an attempt at humor-

I need a ruling on this one guys.  Is this guppy I hooked too small to keep or can I fry it up in a pan?

Too bad the DFG ruled you're under the legal limit and I have to throw you back in.  Would you please be so kind as to spit up that hook you swallowed?  Careful, I don't use barbless hooks.

I swallowed no hook-

If you wish to use a fishing metephore- then
"He stole my bait & now I have to re-bait & cast again" would be more accurate. For you see, I did state that  "Hopefully it was an ATTEMPT at humor-" and apparently it was just that- an attempt.
