The Texas mile....
« on: February 08, 2004, 11:02:09 AM »
Very interesting event...  Was in Hot rod or one of my other mags this month.."run what you brung" but it had to be street legal..

They use an abandoned airport and go for quarter mile and top speed.   Everyone was trying to break 200 mph... some interesting numbers... all the new vettes were running in the 170-175 range... the winner of the event was a zr1 old 91 vette that did 192... a twin turbo viper did 190.... most of the mustangs and camaros did the 150 range...   A pumped up wrx did 144.

No car did 200mph...

The winner of the event was a hyboosa bike that did 210...  3 other motorcycles all did over 200 mph..... all four bikes were..... hyboosas.

one was parked outside my office so... I had to ride the darm thing again... I can believe that no other bike came close.  The vettes were beating the other "superbikes"

last 132 feet were timed... not much detail other than that... the cars were classed in like 140 to unlimited in 10 mph increments.

I think that most of the jap bikes were reading like 180 on the speedos  but doing about 155.

You were hit by a bird at 170mph in the head and were able to keep control of the bike? Hmmm...

At 170mph just sitting up in the saddle will unbalance the machine.
