Never loop a buff....
« on: November 07, 2000, 11:12:00 PM »
The wings don't like it

Those metal wings sure take bullets well, but they can't loop worth a damn! =D

I do, however, have a film recording of myself looping a lanc. Wooden wings compress more, I think? Dunno, don't question, but has little practical usage!

Also, just got my stick replaced (have a rudder now, YAY!) and found that when gunning in a bomber, the rudder twist controls alerons.... what's up with that, dammit? When I wanna turn, I'll be in the cockpit... I don't wanna screw up my perfect bead because of accidental input. And no, I can't deadband it, cause when I hop back to cockpit to fly, then I need it again.

The reason for that is so you can make turns from the gun position.  When flying in a large formation it makes it easier to keep formation by setting autoclimb and then flying from the gun positions like that.  It also lets you adjust your heading incase you're drifting from the formation while under attack, no need to jump to the cockpit if you see you're drifting out, you can keep banging away at the bandits.

You can easily loop any AH BUFF.  Make sure to cut the throttle when you nose is pointed down, and don't pull to hard.

Freelancer, in a buff at 25k you can outturn most fighters while gunning and not lose any altitude  +)
Its harder with a twist grip stick for sure.
I use my pedals for my racing wheel (fine just reversed) with my Prec Pro and its great +)
By turning the buff u can bring your guns to bear in places you otherwise could not.
