I don't recall the spelling. It was served to me in a bar in Beijing by a bartender from London who'd brought several bottles with him. He was one of those semi-famous 'flair' bartenders who toured different countries and flung bottles around as part of his repertiore. He specialized in concocting drinks containing Absinth(or absinthe) even though apparently it was illegal in China as well. Anway, he mixed the stuff with burning sugar and dripped the resulting caramel into the shot before serving it, and the stuff was green. I'm not sure why I put the 'E' on the end of it, but it may have had something to do with the way Lost Generation writers used to spell it.

Thanks for the note though. I wasn't aware of the differences.

Cheap drink isn't always bad. That's just snobbery. I've had lots of cheap rum while in the Carribean and it was all good.

Try the good stuff and stay away from any mixto. 100% Agave distilled and bottled in Mexico. If blanco or reposado is too harsh, try an anejo.

Speaking of cheap liquor, here's a neat little trick to make REALLY cheap vodka  somewhat decent. Take a PuR water pitcher and dump the vodka in, then pour the vodka thru the filter. It removes a lot of the conjengers (sp?) and impurities that are the main cause of hangovers. It actually works.
