Just tell yourself that they're Nazi madmen trying to extract the secret of Aces High from you, and resist man, resist!
My dentist's name is E. Mengel.
He is well aware of the resemblence to the infamous doctor, as on the pack of toothpicks you get on the way out he has written it Mengel.e
He removed the two lower ones of mine when I was 16. They lay horizontal in the mandibula and he had to drill them into 3 pieces to get them out. He just used local anesthetic (general anaesthetic is only used in rare cases here, mostly on children <6 years or so.)
I didn't feel a thing other than the warm taste of blood and some shake as he tried to coax the thing out.
The following day my cheek was double size, and I could hardly bite over a spoon, but pain wasn't that bad.
I had 4+4 removed as well, and that was even less trouble.
Just a bit of LA, pop, a bit of gauze and off you go. No stitching whatsoever.
