“Nervous Energy V” was not a 325th aircraft. You can review their inventory at:
http://www.325thfg.org/inventor.htmThe owner of this aircraft just took bits-n-pieces from the 325th to make a nice paint scheme. From Squadron/Signal Publications, “P-51 Mustang in Action”, page 44, there is a picture of “Double Nuthin’.” The picture is black and white but you can tell there is a thick black band after the nose color. If you look close at the picture, you can tell the “00” is not outlined in yellow and the color band separating the checker tail is not red – my guess was the same blue they used in their crest or shield. Also, as far as I know, “Double Nuthin’” was never credited with any kills. So this leads me to think the paint scheme of “Nervous Energy V” is not based on an actual aircraft.
Individual paint schemes tended to “evolve” over time and it is sometimes difficult to find enough images to fully know what a plane really looked like. My goal with this skin was to match the black and white picture as closely as possible.
