Shaded areas on clipboard map... ?
« on: March 28, 2000, 07:39:00 AM »
Can someone please explain to me the meaning of the green and red shaded areas on the clipboard map?  I understand that the dots represent aircraft, and was led to believe that the shaded areas might represent the proportions of friendly/enemy present in any given location. To help you answer my question, I have attached a picture of my clipboard, and have put blue rings around the shaded areas in question.

Radar cons. that is a n overall watch of roughly the forces of red and green cons in a given zone. When Dar is down then you'll see no such counters.

Little red and green dots are planes. Red and green bars are OVERALL forces.

each 'notch' on the sector markers (bars) is 1 or 2 aircraft.  If the marker is just 1 notch, you could have 1 or 2 aircraft in that sector.

CaveJ, I have seen up to 5 A/C in a 1-block grid, could HTC elaborate on this?  What is the maximum number of A/C in a grid when 1 block is shaded?

If the bar is as long as it will go there are at least 10 planes in the sector.

If its at its shortest there are 1 or 2 in the sector.

And you don't see yourself marked in those "sector radars", so if the line is as short as possible you might be 3 friendly in that plane (2 others + yourself).

Btw, I have also noticed that the horizontal divider between sectors in fact is located a bit south of where it is marked on the map, as far as for what sector the plane is considered to be in.

If you zoom in (RMB on the plus sign), and follow a friendly dot crossing the line, he needs to be a little way to the south of the line, before the sector "change" occur.

This can be useful information if you are sneaking a goon/buff along the border of a sector but are displayed to the enemy as being in another sector. As I said you can't see which sector you are being displayed in.
