NEWARK, N.J. Feb. 12 — A teenage boy posing as a banker duped an Ohio car dealership into delivering a $123,000 BMW to him at his high school, police said Thursday.

A second order was never shipped after the dealership became suspicious, and the teen was arrested. The first car was later found in Raleigh, N.C., police said.

"He apparently sold the car, and it ended up in a dealership in North Carolina," said Detective Scott Davis of the Dublin, Ohio, police.

The boy was 16 in early January when he ordered the 12-cylinder 2004 BMW 760Li with "black sapphire metallic" paint and a heated steering wheel and seats. He told Midwestern Auto Group that his bank would confirm the wire transfer, authorities said.

After completing and returning paperwork that was mailed to his home, the teen called the dealership pretending to be a banker confirming the transfer, police said.

The car was delivered to him at Dickinson High School on Jan. 27, two weeks after the boy turned 17, police said.

That same day, he ordered a second car. But when Midwestern Auto Group learned that the first payment was never made, the dealership contacted police.

The boy was arrested at his Jersey City home late last month.

Police said the teen was not hard to find. "He did use his correct name, as far as I know," Davis said.

The teen is charged with theft by deception and was no longer in custody, Sgt. Edgar Martinez said. Authorities did not release the boy's name because he is a juvenile.

This is the same dealership whose owner was attacked by a gun/knife wielding Iranian Ohio State student in December.

=====================================
911 Call: Impaled Suspect Had Knife Fight With Victims
Mahalati Is Ohio State Student

UPDATED: 2:55 PM EST December 12, 2003

POWELL, Ohio -- Frantic 911 calls provided details of a brutal knife fight between an armed suspect and two victims at the scene of a home invasion Wednesday night. A prominent local businessman owns the house, NewsChannel 4's Larry Roberts reported.

The incident happened just after 7 p.m. in the Wedgewood subdivision in Powell, Delaware County.

Ehsan Mahalati, an Ohio State University student from Iran, allegedly stabbed residents Mark Brentlinger and Brian McDonald. Brentlinger owns Midwestern Auto Group.

Mahalati, who originally told the Delware County Sheriff's Office that he was from Iraq, was charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

The first 911 call came from the chef inside the home while Brentlinger and McDonald were involved in a knife fight with the suspect in the courtyard of the home. McDonald hit the suspect with a hammer, Roberts reported.

We have a burglar," the caller said. "He's hitting Mr. Brentlinger. He's got a gun. ... The man is on the ground. I think he's been hit on the head. It's a burglar, and he's got a big gun. ...There's really blood everywhere."

About five minutes into the struggle, Brentlinger called 911, Roberts reported.

"He has tried to stab me," Brentlinger said. "A gun ... my hand ... help."

When deputies arrived, they said they found Mahalati pinned between the prongs on the top of a wrought-iron gate. A portion of the gate had to be cut away to free the suspect. He had been impaled, Roberts reported.

"Our suspect was treated for multiple stab wounds to the upper part of his body," Delaware County Sheriff Al Myers said.

The suspect's weapon was a toy gun.

Brentlinger and McDonald are recovering from stab wounds to their arms.

That flip happened about 10 minutes from me.

Given the time frame of the incedent, its likely the driver encountered snow, ice, a hideous amount of gravel to combat both or all three.

Youve got to be stupid to be whipping around corners here in the winter months.

Ripsnort I think this story illustrates the fact that you probably paid too much for your BMW.. Maybe next time you should let your kids take care of the fininacing.. :)
