Boys will be boys
« on: February 16, 2004, 11:54:28 AM »
Sunday lunchtime I am making sandwiches for the boys who were in the bedroom upstairs, directly above me.

There was a heck of alot of banging around going on and I even started to go upstairs and defuse whatever was happening when I realised their mother was in the room with them.

I went back to the stove (grilled cheese sandwiches) and no sooner had I reached it there was an almighty bang followed by some serious crying.

I run upstairs to find my oldest holding his jaw and blood coming out of his mouth.

I looked and saw he had split his bottom lip and one of his lower teeth was loose and bleeding at the gumline.

His mother must now be very desentisized to such things because she didn't seem concerned at all.  She continued to feed the baby and just sort of shrugged and said "Well we'll call the dentist on Monday".

About an hour later and my son is still complaining that it was hurting.  It really wasn't all that bad so I gave him some ice and went back to whatever I was doing.  I made the comment to my wife that "I hope he doesn't lose that tooth.", to which she said "Which, the upper or lower?"

"What upper tooth?" says I.

"The one he chipped"

"huh?"

I called him over and immediately saw what she was talking about...almost a quarter of his front right tooth was gone.  I never noticed it previously.

The dentist today confirmed he was okay, the front tooth she would attempt to fix but the lower was fine.  It was loose but would strengthen with time...but she had one problem.  She couldn't figure out what the black stuff was on the broken tooth.  She scrapped it off and then asked what he had hit.

Turns out he scrapped the paint off the chair leg he fell into with his tooth and flakes of paint were stuck inside the broken area.
Some will fall in love with life and drink it from a fountain that is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain

DOH! The nurses at our local emergency room know me by first name basis now, due to my youngests desire to be a stunt man at age 5. :)

He's got more stitches in his first 5 years than I've had my entire life.

Hey Curval.. it only lasts till they're about 19-20.

Then you get a four year break until they move back in with ya.

Nope but you can accomplish the same thing when YOU look in the mirror.

Sometimes girls will be boys too. My oldest had the bad habit of leading with her chin when she was about to hit the ground.
