Yep. We had one of those, IIRC.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Well Chair, I read the Constitution but I never saw any "Hotel California" clause.

You know, "You can check out any time you like, But you can never leave."

You find one?

Entry: Joke
Pronunciation: 'jOk
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin jocus; perhaps akin to Old High German gehan to say, Sanskrit yAcati he asks
a : something said or done to provoke laughter; especially : a brief oral narrative with a climactic humorous twist b (1) : the humorous or ridiculous element in something (2) : an instance of jesting : KIDDING c : PRACTICAL JOKE d : LAUGHINGSTOCK

Toad, would you like to help me define a standard tag to put behind all humorous posts that clearly identify it as a joke?  If you feel it's needed, I might suggest something like:

[/JUST KIDDING]

or maybe we can go with more of a postscript approach:

{end-joke}

Of course, there are some other informal methods I've seen on other BBSs, such as:

roflololol kekekekekekekeke ^_____^!!!!!!!!

Any preferences?

That is correct, Bile.

There's nothing that forbids a State from removing itself from the Union that I can find.

If you re-read my previous post six or seven times... you might need even more... you'll see that's exactly what I said.

Now do you want argue that Lincoln acted constitutionally when he forced the South back into the Union by the force of arms or do you want to argue that he acted unconstitutionally?

Just a heads up, this has been debated by some pretty learned folks for a long time. I don't believe either side has given up as yet.

And your South Carolina example is a red herring. Look it up.
