sorry some of this is grainy but this is list of capture grerman gun films and doc on eastern front, which will show you 1930 -1940 planes were still fighting 1944 and later planes as you'll note in 1 film is a 152 fighting a p39 and a pe-2. this also might interest luft squads it gives squads and plane types and names of pilots scoring kills........

I believe entire films have been saved and copied to DVD I will check into and find out if available to purchase. I know you can view them at air and space museum. in DC. Just use flim numbers from these reports.

okay best prof of old planes killing new with doc proof i 've found so far is Biplane I153 on 4/4/1944 killed a 190d.

Naval Major Aleksandr Gerasimovich Baturin HSU was pilot of I153.

Wow, I noticed that even Fokker C-V's, captured in the Netherlands in May 1940 are still listed! These are 1920's vintage bi-plane reconaissance planes, very, very obsolete ones!

I am not a historical plane buff but I have read up on a few planes a bit. One of the most appealing planes to me is the P-39Q Airacobra, one of which is on this list. It was a great little plane as im sure most of you know with engine mounted behind the pilots seat. And packed 2x.50 cals in the nose, 2x .50cals under the wing, 1x37mm cannon in the nose. Im not quite sure on the max bomb load it could carry but I know it atleast held 500lbs of ordinance. That would be the kewlest thing if AH could bring this plane in the game:D

The P39 wasn't a bad plane,but because the looks of the blower annoyed the Army buyers, it was removed,and the performance suffered greatly.The P63 King Cobra was a different story.It came with better Allison 1710 engine,Laminar wings,and a blower,and now we had a plane that could compete on equal terms with the all the other late war planes.Again the politics got the folks at Bell,and the P63 was relegated to state side duty.It was a quite capable aircraft,and a King Cobra won the 1947 air race at Reno.
One of the major annoyances with the P39's P63's,was when you fired the 37 MM Oldsmobile cannon,it filled the cockpit area with nasty smelling gunsmoke.
The claim that it was a hard plane to fly,was simply not true.One had to pay attention to what was going on,and it gave you your monies worth.
It would be a lotta fun to see a P39-P63 in AH,but I'm sure they'd make it a dog,which it wasn't

Heh, I like it no matta wut... Its a neat lookin little ride I think and would be a nice change/addition to AH to have either P39 or 63...

A question though.

I don't find anything that tells me what planes the LW pilots flew, only see what they shot down. Such as the one from 1:st of July 44 shows Oblt Günter Bertram scoring a kill on a PS-84. Doesn't say what he flew.

Where does it say what they flew? And what is that about the 152 movie fighting a P39 and a pe2? Any way to watch that movie without going to the museum?
