Holy cow...a 65 Stratocaster. Keep it in the family dude.

Ive got my dads 62 Jaguar. Its been through alot but still sounds awesome and looks good.

SRV had what we white boys like to call soul. And a lot of it. Great player and the guy sang from a place in his gut few people could understand.

im sure that guitar is wortha good penny,,counts on how good of shape it is in,,i got a buddy who has a 1971 telecaster and a big head stock jimmy hendrix special strat,,both look brand new,,i know he told me he wouldnt let go of the blond seethrew wood telie for no less than 3,000 to me as a freind,,lol,,but it sure is a pretty guitar

SRV was definitely THE man. He was w/out a doubt the biggest influence on my musical career. But for goodness sakes, please spell his name right.

Junior Brown can't even be mentioned in the same sentence as SRV. I saw Junior Brown a couple years back. I was really entertained for the first couple songs, but from there on out it was repetitious. He knows a dozen good licks and throws them in every song he plays.

Tubes really do sound better in an amp than transistors, otherwise known as solid state amps. The tone is a lot warmer, nowhere near as harsh and brittle sounding as most solid state amps. I have a solid state Kustom that I'll use for particular shows if I have to change my tone a lot. It has a bunch of built in effects that are handy. But most of the time it's just a Strat, TS-9 and Fender tube amp.

SRV was someone I discovered later in life...after the fact you could say. He's def one of my favorites. I've thought that "crossfire" would be a good soundtrak to an AH film.

Here's a neat story about SRV. On his last album with Double Trouble, "In Step," there's a song called Riviera Paradise. It's a real soft, jazzy number that's incredible. If you listen to his Live at Carnegie Hall album you can hear him noodling what became the intro to it and the end of Lenny. Anyways....

They were in the studio making the album and Stevie asked the engineer to turn down the lights, said he needed to "make amends." That's when he launched into Rivera Paradise. Tape was running on it and everything locked. As the song was getting close to the end, the engineer noticed the tape reel was just about out. He started jumping up and down waving his arms trying to get Chris Layton, the drummer's, attention to let him know they needed to end it NOW. Chris looked at Stevie and he was just entranced, no way he could let him know they were about to lose the whole song. They played on, the song ended, and seconds afterward the tape reel was empty.

They recorded it a couple more times, but nothing came close to that first take.

SRV is dmn good... chittlins con carne is my personal fav track. a close second is life by the drop.

Speaking of '65 strats...

Fender will still MAKE you a '65 Stratocaster, with all original electronics. They even special order fabric coated wiring to make them authentic. ... On top of that, they will "age" it for you too... if you want.

during the time he played. it had nothing to do with where he was on the neck or in the song or anything like that.

I miss the dude and his music.
I saw him and Jeff Beck just before he died..
