GScholz, I doubted your claim to be an experienced soldier, I still do. That you dislike America, I don't have any doubt. I attribute that to your living in a country of no import.

But, I do not and did not make any claim about being a warrior or "armchair general" based on this. It might be your education or difficulty with our language, but if you have someone read it to you and explain it clearly, you might see I was giving my impression of my countrys armed forces, in contradiction to mikos statement :

I don't care whether you or miko likes me or has even a tiny bit of respect for me, I know who I am, what I have accomplished, and the good I have done with my life. As far as Miko having fought the Mujahedeen, sorry but that doesn't mean crap to me. One, they got their tulips handed to them. Two, it only means he was probably just conscripted and may have just served as a dishwasher in the theater, if he was actually there at all. In case you haven't learned this yet, it isn't always experience that wins a fight, its passion that can make a big differance.

Miko hates the USA and everything about it. If he will agree, I will contribute to buying him a ticket to France or any of his beloved former commie nations. All he has to do is agre to go there and not return.

Until such time, I will dispise his hypocrasy, his hate and his pathetic attacks.

Yes, I am proud of my son, I worry about him every day and take joy in each communication I get from him. Maybe some day you will know that joy and worry that being a parent is about. I hope you don't have to experience that chill of fear when you hear on a news report of another member of your sons outfit being killed and have to worry until you hear from him again. That is my life right now.

Let Miko badmouth these young men again, I will do the same, and say the same again.

My youngest son (now 20) liked to party and do a lot things he wasn't supposed to do when he was younger. Any night when he was out I cringed every time I heard a siren. He joined the Army reserves but could not go to boot camp because of a highschool football knee injury. I now feel guilt at the relief I feel because he is not in Iraq. I doubt that I would be getting much sleep these days if he were there. My heart and prayers go out to those in Iraq and especially those loved ones left at home.

It's interesting to see that dago (not that I have anything against him) has a nerve that can be touched.

From what I see on these boards he can be quite insensitive to other people's feelings on many an occasion.

It'd be a pretty worthless person imo that wasn't sensitive when it comes to their own kids, especially those endangering their own lives in service to their nation.

It would take a pretty insensitive person to ridicule those in danger while they were serving that person.

lol ravells.. your very close my friend.. but I believe a better use of words would be that miko IS dago's glass house.. dago is forever blurting in on miko's post.
I for one dont find miko's post anti-american.. Rather, I attempt to see the reasons behind. To attempt to look at things from a different perspective.. Most times I agree with what he types.. Sometimes I dont. I attempt to understand the why of what he post the whole time understanding that he has the right to post just like others... others like Dago for instance...

I don't see anyone begging for mercy here, certainly not Dago. You want to insult our troops, go ahead, we see it for what it is. Just don't expect not to be called on it.

I can understand your point about the French but I don't understand why some find the term 'ragheads' offensive. It's not really the term itself that is disdainful but the attitude with which it is used.

To sum it up.... The only branch that trains Security guards are the Marines (MSG) for embassy duty and other such duties. After that there are MP's for guarding prisoners and patrolling convoy routes. We are not trained to be body guards or to be a police force in some hostile country. My personal feeling is we are not properly trained for such missions.

It's not so much about how the term 'ragheads' is perceived by the person who is saying it, but also about how it is percieved by the people whom it is said about. I don't know if there are many arab people in your community, but if there are, I'm sure you wouldn't dream of calling them 'ragheads'. I could be wrong, but I'll ask my Sudanese room mate in the office tomorrow. Perhaps they just view it as us calling Germans 'Jerries' (I don't think the Germans find that offensive) but I'll ask her and find out.

Actually, it's funny how we don't seem to have anyone of Arab extraction who plays AH. Pity, it would be interesting to see what their take on the post-war situation in Iraq is.

I don't think there's much, if any, religious significance to the turban worn by many Arabs, could be wrong. Seems like I've read that it's nothing more than a 'hat' to protect from the sun. The term 'raghead' is probably resented because it is believed or suspected that those that use the term do so disrespectfully.

It's becomming traditional for Americans to show at least mild disdain for tradition. I can understand how many have a problem with this, tough s**t.

My feelings weren't hurt by anything or anyone on this board. But, I do feel miko did an incredible disservice to our men and women serving our nation at great risk. They stand in harms way, holding a weapon and risking everything while he enjoys the freedoms they guard dearly. He is the ultimate in ungrateful.

Maybe some would understand better my indignation if they also had family and/or good friends in the military. This is brought home even more when those loved ones are deployed in a combat theater. We have become friends with some of my sons Army buddies, I get emails from them, and my son brought one home on Christmas leave just before they deployed to Iraq. These are fine young men we have serving our nation and for miko to smear them and sterotpye them as "our army's ground troops, which quickly become a politically-correct welfare agency for unwed mothers" is a little more than I can silently tolerate.

For what it's worth, I have never referred to Arabs as "ragheads", and for those who don't know any better, the Iraqis I don't believe consider themselves Arabs. I have lived in the middle east and I learned to appreciate some of the fine qualities of the Arab people. They are family oreinted, love to barter, have a wicked sense of humor and their hospitality is second to none when you are their guest.

But on the other hand, I love to make fun of the French, but this comes from a dislike of many of their actions. It might not be PC or nice to make fun of them, and of that I am guilty. I am not perfect, but I haven't moved into their country and enjoyed it's benefits while slamming it either.

BTW miko, what became of your little criminal buddy who loots weapons when the lights go out? Here's hoping he is doing 10 to 15 hard time as someones little rump ranger.
