78th FG "Duxford Eagles" Now Recruiting!
« on: February 23, 2004, 04:02:24 PM »
Tired of the same old mindless "furballing"? Ready for someting different? Want to fly as part of a TEAM? Then the 78th FG might be for YOU.
We are looking for a few dedicated sim pilots that really like to fly, have an intrest in WW2 Avaition and are interested in flying each sortie as "realisticly" & "historically" as possible. We are looking for people who would like to actively participate in running the squad whether it be taking leadership positions or with technical or operational support. We are also looking for people who just want to fly and have a good time weather you are an "Ace" or a "Newby".

Operations:
The 78th FG will operate using the MISSION PLANNER or have a set mission for every sortie that is practical. Our principal mounts will be the P-38L LIGHTNING, P-47D THUNDERBOLT & P-51B & D MUSTANG with an emphasis on Intercept and Ground Attack missions. We will also operate useing original WW2 USAAF tactics, formations & radio procedures so that you will get as close to that "feeling" of actually flying the missions as you can
get.

The 78th FG is also a member of the IX TACTICAL WING and we often fly co-op missions with our sister squadron the 325th FG "Checkertails" for even more mission emersion.

Squad Times:
The 78th FG will fly Tuesday & Thursday at 10:00pm EST in the CT Arena (Depending on terrain). We will also fly in the Special Event Scenarios AH has from time to time if there is enough interest among the squad's pilots.
We also hold an informal Practice Scession every Sunday night at 9:00 pm EST in the TA or DA.

Our Goals:
The 78th FG's goal is to become no less than the #1 squad in Aces High. At the same time we are out to have fun with our hobby - that is the MAIN goal.

What's in it for me you ask?
1. As this is a newly forming squad, Leadership positions are open and you can get in at the ground level.
2. Training will always be available for any "Newbys" who would like to join. No experience necessary. Just bring a willingness to learn and work within the team.
3. You will be able to input your ideas for operations and missions to be flown by the squad.
4. You will always have someone there to help watch your 6 and to clear you if you get into trouble.
5. Your own personalized A/C on the squad webpage with your nose art.
6. There is a dedicatated Command Structure in place for the squad. Rank, leadership positions and awards have to be EARNED. They are not just freely given out.
7. Your kill streaks and awards displayed on the squadron kill board for all to see.
8. Access to the Squad Forum on the AH BBS where information on all subjects are exchanged.
9. Lastly flying with a squad will increase your flying experence by 100%.

If this sounds good to you and you would like to find out more, check out the website listed below my signature.
If you are ready to become one of the "DUXFORD EAGLES" e-mail us at the 78th FG Headquarters, AAF Station #357, Duxford, Cambridgeshire.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD HUNTING!   :aok

Can I ask you how many pilots you have currently?
And you generally fly the P-47 versions I've read?

We have 12 pilots so far.

We have one squadron that flies the P-47 all the time and are getting ready to open another (the 84th FS, mine in fact) who's job will be A2G with the Jugg. We usually fly it anytime it is available. If the P-51 is available also we will fly a mix of them.

Frank or Lazer - if either one of you is interested in joining or has more questions drop me an e-mail. Link is below my signature.

Well Im always interested, but the lack of a credit card keeps me out of the main.
Do you have only attacker runs with the P-47? Or mainly dogfights?

Frank,
The 78th Fighter Group is devided into three squadrons.
The 82nd, 83rd and 84th squadrons. Jester will be the CO of the 84th...as stated above.

We will be conducting joint opperations in the CT on thursday night with the Checkertails. Normally we fly air suport for the Checkertails as they make a bombing run either in heavy fighters or bombers. We also are in joint operations with Fleet 880 and VF27, who also fly cover or deversion. However, fleet 880 and VF27 sometimes fly axis.

We fly what planes are available in the CT on the allied side. This week its the P-40E. When the P-51D and P-47D-30 are available, we split as jester noted above.
