During the fall of AW - Flossy got a TOS on the EA boards for something she said and including a link (to here I think?).

The FACTS don't mattter.  It's accusation and innuendo that reign supreme here!!

LOL, reminds me of the time I had a mission going, a guy named "noodlester" or "noodleswager" or something joined it...I decided to call the target in the air once we launched to avoid "spies"...well, I started to assign specific targets, and typed in "Cock"(for short) and got the warning...ooops!  Okay, continued with assignments and did it again!  Muted for 10 min...with alot of folks confused as to what we should do...luckily, a squaddie was on RW and I relayed everything to him, which he relayed to the text buffer!

i have muted myself for ten minutes two times (that i can remeber) by leaving the "f" out of "Shift" accidentally when helping out a new player.  

i think the filter is fun.  just last night i muted myself for swearing on a private channel. Thank god i had RW.

Flossy i bet that (or similiar) is what caused the warning

Profanity filters are useless anyway. If I ever wanted to mouth off and cuss I can certainly mispell stuff enough to avoid the filter but be obvious of what I mean to say

*F* replaced by *ph* in the 4 letter word and ding! no filter warning.

I would rather have a VOTE system to have someone muted.

playerinch1: you $#@$# , 4@#$@ I hope your mom $@#@#%$# $%#%#$ dog #$@%$@# .

A vote is started, once you get 12 votes (only 1 vote allowed per person) that mouthed off person is muted for an hour.

Works wonders in other online games. l33t sP34K always beats filters anyway.

However, I will say again, there are several references to what has been happening over the last week. The first was a news report, stating that EA.com were laying off 200-250 online staff:

Yes, it can be bypassed, and is quite often.  But in all fairness, since the profanity filter was implemented, the tone of the Chan. 1 and 2 discussions has improved.

Of course, there's also the secret police, who silently monitor public-channel conversations and are capable of sending anonymous warnings.
