Stick stirring
« on: October 01, 2000, 11:22:00 PM »
I've noticed alot of stick stirring since 1.04.  I just got off line logged after a zeke did it. Loser levels out lets me get shape on him then at d5 he starts stirring and warps right into me.  That trick is realy old and ruins online combat for me.  I realy don't understand the people that do that.  Hopefuly they feal as pathetic as they look.  I'm starting to think that some people exist just to piss others off.

I doubt he was stick stirring.  AH has anti-stick stir code whereby if you move your stick too fast, a message comes up saying that are moving your controls too fast and it will stop responding to joystick input for a few seconds.

I tried that the other night and it didn't give me the warning.

I've seen the same thing Udie. a lot. Maybe even more than a lot.

I'm wondering if stick stir warning is even enabled? I can't get it to do it either.

Of course; mebbe it my damped controls.. or mebbe the guy is pulling manuvers faster than the system can display it.. I dunno.

It is aggravating as hell tho.

Its in there,  but the funny thing is I never saw it with my old saitek joystick, but have been able to get the warning with my wingman extreme.

I haven't seen anything worse than the snap rolls from the A5.. and that seems to even be reduced with 1.04.  Can't say I've actually seen a Zeke in the arena though.

The main thing.. no real warping effects up close during heavy ACM situations.

Well when the zeke did this tonight I could clearly see his nose going in circles he did this for about 2-3 seconds flying straight, then the warp and collision.  Made me realy angry and I logged.   I don't understand the mentality of a person that does that.

Hi Udie,

I agree, the new E-saving flight model somehow has increased stick stirring problems. Now you can play hard with your joy and peddals and your E remains high.

Yep, I've been seeing a lot of stick stirring as well. Hate it when you get right on there bellybutton and they start yanking the nose up and down! You can sure tell who knows ACM and who doesn't, dead give away. Wish HTC would model the 'disorientation' that would come with the moves I'm seeing.

I dont know if its my connect . But ive always enjoyed shooting the floppy fish. Its just one countinous planform shot, back and forth. I like to cut throttle, watch them for awile, let them think they got away. Then kill um. I know, its mean. But its fun.

Its the dam wafer shot that gives me fits. I hosed ol HB one night at 50 yards. didnt hurt him a bit.

Stick stirring seems to me to be micro warps.

I get warnings if I do it (but have only managed to do so once). Takes a conscious effort of leftrightleftright very quickly.

Wells, the "anti-stick stirring" routine seemed to have been tuned way back after its release, because alot of people with spikey sticks were complaining about it.

Like Udie, I can't make it come on now if I try.

But I have to agreee that I have seem alot more of these "WB style" defensive manuevers since 1.04. In fact I started some threads concerning this issue about a week ago.

Definitely frustrating.

Tshred posted the answer. Along the same lines as the wounded pilot effect, have stick stirriing mash the pilots balance all to hell even after they're leveled off for a bit.
Been seeing it alot too and it's more pathetic to watch than anything else (to me) . I've yet to find it saved the boogers bellybutton yet but it's like "gaming" the game.

Hey Vermillion, they are not "WB style" defensive moves they are AH style defensive moves unless your playing the other Sim

Hehe your right Ram1, I shouldn't call them that.

But the name "the continuous negative G bunts, make the aircraft porpoise like a sick dolphin, continuous warp/flick roll manuevers, cross control rudder pedal stomping contest, like I use to see out of the aircraft in WB's, and I never saw in AH up to 1.03, and is now prevalent in 1.04" just doesn't have the same ring to it   Kidding

Serious, the reason I use that term was because its the same kind of unrealistic manuevers that have gone on in WB's for years, and most if not all the legit players on AGW complain about themselves.

My apologies, wasn't meant to start a AH vs WBs thread. Was merely trying to make a comparison.
