CT and Padlok? NO, 2 Arenas yes
« on: October 02, 2000, 04:09:00 AM »

Supong (decepcionado)

ARg...supong, UN cubata? al menos cinco!!!

Ok,here it goes:
"It was a hard thing to let Wb and fly AH. I did it because I thought that AH was more realistic than Wb.

It was hard to configure the views in a good way, It was much harder to learn manual trim use, it was hard to get used to AH's plane's performances (much different than those in Wb)...and for what? All done to end watching that CT exists? that padlock exists?. What has been the use of all the time I spent learning? (my time and other pilot's).

Yes, with only pressing a key we have better results with less work...

I read in other thread that few people used padlock and CT...sure?...then why in 1.03 I could shake off an enemy with turns, and now he allways stays right on target?...are you sure they don't use Padlock?

I know that to make a sim like this costs a lot of money and time, and that this is the way to attract new pilots, who can pay, and this way to make good bussiness...but, wont it be possible to create 2 arenas?...1 with CT, Padlock and any in-flight-help that is seen as useful, and other with the most realistic FM and features possible?

It is my proposal (spelling?)...or we'd be again flying a simulator with good graphics but with a FM like that on SWOTL.

Thanks for your time.

Supong (very annoyed)

Tellum that CT really isn't an advantage (never fly with it on) and that very few pilots use the padlock, because it makes ya target fixated.

His skills are very much still needed.

Supong, I think CT and Padlock are not a significant advantage to pilots who use them, and they are maybe a disadvantage.  I like having everybody in one arena also, because it keeps things interesting.  There is always a big fight.

I dunno what the fuss is about, but then again I've never been enough of a gear-head to really appreciate the nuances of these things.

I sucked pre-combat trim. I suck post-combat trim. I can't even tell the difference.

As for padlock, with all due respect to HTC, I don't think it's effective at all. Mind you, I've only seen padlock accidently a couple of times when I've hit tab thinking its gonna expand the text buffer and alla sudden my views start shifting. One thing I can kinda say is it doesn't seem anywhere near the God-like padlock of some other sims. It's just not an issue, a factor. Even if ya took the time to learn it I'm sure it'd make little difference.

Ya gotta keep in mind that HTC introduced a new FM at the same time as they introduced combat trim... So it's difficult to pin blame (if that's the way you see it) on anything in particular.

Get used to change... learn to accept it as a challenge... it's more enjoyable that way.

Nash. First of all I dont remeber any time that you sucked   . Secondly, What is this callange to learn new FM I keep seeing. It didnt get harder. It got easyier. A lot easyier.
If you dont think easymode helps. Your doing it wrong   Fly the 1c pure BnZ. You run out of gas alot sooner than you do ammo.

I even made one of those 1000 yard kills that I always thought was BS. 960 yards to be exact.
