And they'd probably still get a 1:1 k:d against the Luftwaffe!

Funked's picture is/was the "Piper Enforcer" if IRC. It's a P-51 derivative but it isn't the Cavalier. It has an Allison turboprop for one thing.

I'm pretty sure we're getting it the same time as the Me-262 and both will be perked.

Westy, the Cavalier was a P51, modified with the addition of a Rolls Royce Dart turboprop engine and larger vertical stab.

"I was studied as a tactical attack fighter by my country's Air Force as late as 1980."

I doubt a DC-3 (AC47) could be considered by any strech of the imagination to be a 'tactical attack fighter'. LOL

WWII Lineage; with the caveat of having been flown by many of the worlds air forces would let out the uber-Piper... hmmmm

So.. that leaves the BT2D-1, flown in 1944:

Here's what they looked like in the 70's when the last of 'em rolled off the production line.

I think yer right Ammo. Looks like a Skyraider to me.

Since I'm only a few blocks from what used to be Republic/Fairchild, and since I cried real tears when the jigs and fixtures fer the A10 Warthog were scrapped, I'd say the Aussies were probably lookin at McDonnel/Douglas for quotes on lighting up Skyraider production.. since McDonnel/Douglas at that time still had the jigs and fixtures for the A1's in hand.

My best guess anyway.

Actually, there were a number of A-26's converted to fast executive service. Saw one out at Chino a number of years back ago being converted back to mil A-26 version.

C-47s already had a civilian version - the DC-3. Maybe some were converted to civil use but I'd bet that they stayed as cargo and not executive service.

Hey Mustang fans - go HERE. You won't be disappointed!

Well maybe the question WAS too easy.. but there were sure a lot of incorrect answers.

It's the P-51 Mustang.  Post WW2 it outfitted many of the air forces of the world.  In the 1960's it was rebuilt by Cavalier Aircraft as a two-seat executive version.  And as late as 1980, as the Piper Enforcer, it was under examination by the USAF as a counter-insurgency light attack fighter.

Hmmm.. gonna have to find a harder question next time
