Wit of the Week #2, 13 DEC 01
« on: December 13, 2001, 11:53:00 AM »
Sorry I was a bit late with this... was on the road.

Tough week to choose... very tough. Some great stuff out there. These are just a few of those worthy of mention, too.

The nominees:

From Seeker:

LA-7 Thread

"
Quote
"190D9, for example, is clearly inferior to SpitIX at 25k or above. "

What more reason for perking a 1942 plane over a 1944 plane could you possibly need?

Whiner."

***
Short, to the point, ironic. Nicely Done.

Swoop, in Nominees For Wit of The Week

"And you have nothing on a stunned herring. What's your point?"

***
Again, short, effective with simply beautiful imagery.

Myelo, for the second week in a row for:

Who is DeeZcamp, Dweeb or a Tard?

"I contend that the specimen is actually a genetic cross between a dweeb and a tard, in which the offspring has maintained the whimpering, whining behavior that characterizes the Dweeb species while attaining the dull-witted and insensitive features of the Tard."

***

Excellent imagination in this one, with the pseudo-scientific riff to top it off. The rest of the post carries the theme well, with fine results.

Westy for

meter-o-fun

"lol. AKDejaVu is Jacob Marley haunting Scrooge."

***
Wow, an allusion to "Christmas Carol", great Dickensian literature right at the beginning of the Christmas season. The reference to haunting fits very well, too.

Lance, in the

Remorse for Virtual Death?

"I am sorry, but you of the death-is-undermodelled crowd will have to go to the back of the line.

Those in the la-7-should-be-perked crowd, f4u-1c-should-be-unperked crowd, if-the-f4u-1c-is-unperked-it-ought-to-be-reperked crowd, every-plane-but-my-plane-should-be-perked crowd, the game-is-historically-inaccurate-because-I-cannot-duplicate-the-exploites-of-<insert-famous-ace-of-any-nationality-here> crowd, all-Luftwaffe-planes-are-undermodelled crowd, I-got-shot-down-and-its-obviously-the-result-of-a-fault-in-the-game crowd, make-AH-more-like-some-defunct-game crowd, the HOing-is-so-evil-that-I-support-the-implementation-of-forward-deflection-shields crowd and the you-jerks-in-this-community-just-don't-understand crowd have all been waiting for service for some time now."

***

Master of the run-on sentence, Lance rewards the persistent reader with a great skewering of the AH moaners and groaners.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

...and the winner is.........

Westy.

The succinct nature of the reply, the Dickensian reference as the Christmas season unfolds and the spot-on imagery of Deja haunting Laz through the various threads won me over.

<S> to all! It was VERY hard to choose.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

My nominee wins! Where's my 10%?  :D

Good choice, made me chuckle, for sure.

BTW FDSS you were mentioned, you didn't receive a mention. You were the butt of the joke, as it were.

Congrats to Westy!    :D  And 2 FDBs in the nominations, just outstanding.  Lance is of course Gordo, AKA GoredHo, AKA Squad's backup fluffer.

I nominate JapanX for his remark upon a server disco which cleared the entire MA:

"Our server runs on a GAMEBOY!!"

Now, now, now, to a nit-picky, perfectionist, know-it-all such as yourself, I would think it would make a world of difference. I'm sorry- is that "nit-picky" or "knit-picky"?  :D

Kieran, don't worry, I seriously doubt if it will ever come up again.

  ;)

<EDIT>

Besides, I just thought of a way to partially repair the mistake I made there.
