Mars the community as a whole needs to let subjects like this go. Not everyone is going to like the maps that are put out. I get frustrated at the bashing of someones hard work. The majority of the people who complain about certain maps havent lifted a finger to make one. I want to see those who complain put out a product if they think they can do better. I myself dont really like pizza. I refuse to complain about it because I know I cant do better. I appreciate the hard work that every map builder puts into their maps. And whether I like it or not I will play on it and make the best of what I have. Just think if it werent for those building maps what would we have to fly on huh? We act like spoiled prettythang kids and it really is getting old. The majority of us on this board are MEN arent we? Its time we show it on certain subjects. Now if I upset people when I said STFU I apologize.
But some deserve it.

Jam,

you are quite correct but I feel disappointed by the current map rotation which has definitely swung in favour of small maps in the last few months. I enjoy the pizza map because of the variety it offers - GV battles, high altitudes, a break from furballing. I feel wronged that Pizza has only been up a couple of days this week. I was away at the weekend and wasn't able to log on till Monday, by which time it had been reset.

beetle feels that whining should not be done unless it is your ox being gored. Wildthing feels that limiting choice is ok so long as you put a lot of work into it. They both know that given the oportunity (choice) people will have fun and not play the stupid "win the war" gangbang, cherry pick thing.

Closer fields add choice not take it away. some of the guys who made the maps were all about limiting choice to the way they liked to play and that is why the maps are so bad for guys who just want to have a good time.

just thought I would point that out... but you all knew that.

So far festers first map has been the best. The strat guys have tons of stuff to blow up. The furballers have their close fields. So the strat guys pork all the fields but they are close enough where it really doesnt matter. If you want to take off and climb to 30k just start a few fields back and you can climb in relative peace. Want to gv til your lil heart explodes you can do that to. All im saying is he had his problems with maps and he went and made his own. Called stepping up to the plate and to me he hit a homerun.

Forgot, map rotation is a different subject all together. Those lil ones sure are up alot these days.

In fact its obvious that most people play the win the war/reset the map thing. And most actually try to do it without porkign the bases so they can be used as a base for the next capture
The furball is just something they sometimes encounter or create while doing that and the bases closer together are always the first ones attacked and captured.
The porked base is the result of a defending country trying to prevent an attacking country from hoarding them and/or capturing their bases.
Hmmm kinda like it was and is in real life huh?
After all War is all about whats going on on the ground.
Planes were typically upped for three reasons.
1- to pork and take each others land
2- to prevent the porking and taking of eachothers land
3- to protect those trying to pork and take each others land from those seeking to stop those trying to pork and take each others land.

BTW a note on Radar.
Saw it mentioned somewhere that dar was usless in finding a fight. Thats not true. Or if it is for anyone then they are using Dar wrong.
Dont look for where the fight is. Try looking at where the fight is going to be. Its usually obvious enough. All Darbars are headed somewhere. Just gotta figure out where which usually isnt all that hard.
THERE you will find your fight.

Jam thats cool, I appreciate your view and respect it. For the guys that made the maps, as I said before I respect and appreciate the work the previouse map builders did, but if it's broke why shouldn't we fix it.

It cracks me up when guys say things like "a break from furballing. " What a joke. How do you need a break from furballing when they don't exist and in the event that one does occure there is plenty of map besides that one place, that you bored by furballing types can go, on all maps. There has never been a time when I logged on in two years that I couldn't Ground Pound, Cherry Pick, Hide in the Clouds or sneak a base ( did I cover all your choices beetle?). But to log in and find a furball is more akin to finding a pot of gold.

Why do you Win the War guys read "Add choice" and interpret that to mean "Fly my Way" How can you write such BS. Laz has said nothing but allow everyone the choice to fly the way they want. Right now the only people that can are the Win the War types. If you are a furballer you choice is greatly restricted and or gone.

Yeah I was wondering when someone was going to get around to that.

If there is no choice to furball, which there isn't and people are left out, like me (whaaaaaaa)

I think a good map allows everyone to find something they like. If it reduces the choices it is flawed. This is one of the resons I like Festers map. He expanded some of the field distances to accommodate everyone. All the choices are protected and preserved. Unfortunately on Pizza and some of the other maps this is not the case and choices have been removed.

What is so wrong with maps that appeal to people that furball and people that Ground Pound/Win the War?

I know people are tired of hearing it, but that doesn't mean stop saying it. It should mean Lets Fix it and add back the choices we lost.

If it was impossible to accommodate both groups I would live with Furball maps and Win the War maps. But Fester has shown this is not the case and we can co-exist on same map. But some of the ground pounders cant accept that and are fighting it tooth and nail so that every one has to ground pound, cherry pick or log off.

Laz nailed it when he said it's about giving everyone a choice, not restricting them.

I may be primarily a strat type guy but I HATE the hordes. And have said so repetedly
Really what I would like to see is something done more to balance the numbers out.
I have no problem with furballers furballing (though I wish they would do it a litle farther away from home base LOL)
I just wish I wasnt forced into furball settings which is what happens on the small maps.
Fights wise I like the 1 V 1 or 2 or even 3V1's at times. Its the 5,6,7+ on 1's I hate.

Well Dred I mean honestly this is the give and take beetle is talking about but cant accept.

I know that when some of the bases are moved closer together that I will have to accept the fact that once these bases are all taken by one country, the map will now be mostly strat as we have now. I can accept (give) that.

So when you are done taking all the bases that are far apart from one another and want to take the bases that are closer together you will have to accept that you will deal with larger numbers and adjust as well.

I dont think it is fair for you guys to say dont move some of the fields we want the whole map to be arranged around ground pounding ( far bases )

This is a balance that allows choice for everyone.

You can read this line as, "furballers want other people to only furball", but you will be wrong in your comprehension and interpretation joining with the close minded few that still cling to this belief.

All Laz is saying is that if given the choice, he believes that the majority of the people will want to furball rather than ground pound. Personally who cares as long as we have the choice to do both. Right now the only choice I have is Ground Pound or Cherry Pick. My choice to furball has been taken away.

I agree about the hordes, but there is little that can be done about that. HiTech is not going to limit the player base and forcing people to fly for certain countries because the country they want to fly in is full will never work.

Personally I think the hords are here to stay and there is nothing we can do except accept it, that said if someone does come up with a solution that does not restrict the choiced, I could get behind it.

I can understand that, and if you stay on the fringe of a furball that is all you get. I know guys that live on the 1 V 1 or 2 or even 3V1's out there.

Again the choices are yours, unfortunatly on the maps like pizza and the like I dont have the choice other than long flights and cherry picking.
