It's pretty serious. Check out the rules:
http://www.sscaracing.com/ta/index.phpWe have a practice race on Sunday and then the "real" race on Wed. night. Each race session is 30-45 minutes practice, 5-10 min qualifying runs, 5-10 minute driver meeting, 5 minute warmup, then about a 45 minute race. We either run one long race or two sprint races in succession.
Btw is it tough to learn? I used to play live for speed but I'm not a gear head and could never get a decent setup on a car till someone sent me one, but still was only able to hold a 4th place finish vs them, live for speed was a fun game.
It's not much harder than LFS. If you could handle the GT and Turbo in LFS it will be no problem. There are good setups available (by AchimT) for download that are capable of running within a second or two of the world record at any track.
Are the mods good? Because usually mods are prone with bugs and other defective quarks, yes they're free but hell, if they don't work its no fun.
Only bug I've seen is the ride height bug mentioned above. In replays your car will look like it's "slammed". It's a flaw in the game engine which will probably never get fixed. Other than that, no problems.
And... would it be possible to hit ya up a bit later tonight to get some driving tips, and or some race's with your crew?
Just drop by the
SSCA TA forum. if you need help. I'm not going to be racing tonight, but if you sign up for the SSCA TA series you can run in the Sunday practice races.
Would suggest that you folks use an external voice com program, i.e. Teamspeak, Ventrilo, Roger Wilco (i prefer the first one).. Would appreciate the info funked
I don't use anything like that. I've heard of people doing it though.
Thanks bud appreciate it, One question I forgot to ask how big of a VS match can take place? Is it atleast 32? Just wondering because the 6 man races in Live for speed were fun, I just can't imagine what it'd be like to race vs so many others, in a coordinated effort, I'd imagine though with so many unexperienced drivers it may be fustrating if they don't give into a turn and just ram right into ya etc..
We have 32 cars every week. No warps, never been discoed. Yes the drivers have to be good. In SSCA we have a probationary period where the driver has to run in practice races to show he knows how to race in traffic. After that he has to get signed by a team to run in Wed. events, or he can run as a sub or in one of the 2 guest cars.
