Maybe it was being nice?  Maybe it was passing conversation?  Maybe he was in line near some poeple seeing it and they thought he was?  Maybe they were just being polite? I'm 41 and don't push my beliefs on anyone. At least I don't THINK I do.

If he were 40 then he probably would have just said No and not thought of the Railroad Spike in the Skull thing...Or the Holy Roller calling em names thing. Course that may not be either. He may have thought WORST.

My comment comes from him seeming a bit intolerant about what is at this time a BIG MOVIE that everyone is talking about. The fact that he was asked a question..then told something maybe like.."Its a great movie" ticked him off. I have no idea....

But to just say..creepy *****ing religeous ******s in their SUnday Clothes with thier smug *****ing smiles seems a tad bit harsh.

ANd I just didn't get from what I read that there was any "Trying to switch or converting" going on.

Wolf, what exactly were they doing?  Were they in line and making conversation?  Were they purposely setting up shop and randomly recommending the passion?  Were they also 'witnessing' ?

As far as I can tell, it seems like a situation of people incapable of minding their own business. I've had **** pushed on me before by religious folks - most notably Jehovahs Witnesses, second to them would be Catholics/Christians. I'll lay it out on the table right now, I am 22. That kind of **** just pisses me off, I don't go up to people I don't know and preach what I believe. I don't even tell my friends what I believe unless they ask.

Since we are missing the full transcript of the whole conversation, we can also assume he was asked if he was there to see The Passion. He said no, and then they proceeded to lay down their opinion/promotion of the movie.

My best friend is a devout Christian, we discuss beliefs all the time. I could go into what he thinks about a lot of people who claim to be Christians - but thats his opinion and I'm not going to throw that out there. Fact is, there are a LOT - if not the majority - of Christians out there that promote their religion and their beliefs like Jehovah's Witnesses. They are better at pissing people off than winning over people to accept their beliefs. IMO, and I'm not uninformed by any means, a lot of Christians out there have forgotten Jesus' lesson of turning the other cheek and loving thy neighbor - that includes accepting them regardless of their beliefs.

Ok....Let me say this to you....And this is in no way a slam so please..Don't take it as such....

I can relate to most of what you have just said. I have been brought up around religion all my life. Having Granfahthers and a Brother who were and are minsters , it's hard not to. I know all the "Sermons" lol. I had an expierence in my life late last year and have become a christian. 40 years old and feel like a kid. LOL  But , it's not something that I "Flaunt" or "Push" on anyone I know or meet. Everyone that knows me and has known me for years says that they see a differance.

Now.... what i was going to say to ya that I don't want you to get mad about was....this part of your statement....

I guess what I wanted to say is....Don't assume that they were "Bible Thumping" at him so to speak.

I don't like being prodded about things either...Some Christians think they have to "Preach the word to the masses" alllll the time. Telling people about your beliefs really IMO should be something that was asked of you. Not "Hey Im a christian and let me convert you" speeches ya hear from the "Bible Thumpers." It does tend to tick people off..and just as you have said..they are turned off more..than if you just let things naturally take thier course in simple conversation.

To meet my brother..and hear him speak...you would never give a second thought he is a Minister. He and I are just alike. Becoming a christian is personala and something to be done because you WANT to..not being told you HAVE to.

I see what you are getting at. By what you stated, I see you understand what I'm getting at as well.

Without knowing what really happened that night, anyone can assume what they want - which is why I posted my perceptions.

It was nice to meet you too, its refreshing for me to come across someone who isn't forcefull with their beliefs.

I've seen past renditions of what "The Passion" is recreating, so its nothing new to me and I know what transpired which is why this movie doesn't interest me at all.

I was raised Catholic myself, and I have no desire to go all missionary on anyone.  

But I think a lot of people, especially college kids like me, are mobbed on campus by white-shirt-and-tie-wearing Christians of one group or another that come off as pretty pretentious, nosey, and downright annoying.  As such, when an overly perky, well dressed person approaches and asks if I have a minute to talk, they get treatment about one notch above what I'd give a panhandler.  

Hence the assumption (I made it too) that he was being, for lack of a better word, Bible Thumped.

Basically they were spawn camping the entrance where the guy clips the ticket stubs - now short of giving a guilt trip for not going on ash weds - i'm not sure what their intent was. But it was annoying to the point of writing up this viceral rant.

I also thank you for saying that.  Just that statement alone.  I was brought up as a Lutheran.  Lutherans, the most part, keep it personal.  It's unfortunate to say the least that the vocal majority of ANY faith give them a nasty label.  I don't judge right off the bat.  I listen to what is said and how it is said.  If I feel someone is forcing something on me, its in my nature to tell'em to shreck off  It shows ignorance - that they aren't even learned in their own beliefs.

To each his own ya know?  There is no need for fear that anything is going down hill - one's own relationship with god, eris, lucifer, vishnu, or whoever, is just that - personal.

I wasn't fortunate enough to be cornered at the ticket office.  I had one corner me on the phone at work after I helped her fix something with her mobile phone.  I got to learn that the pope liked it, the jews have nothing to fear from it, the actor that plays jebus is 33 (like jebus, I guess) and has the initials J.C., and that I should go see it because it will strengthen my faith (I must have been giving off a holy vibe that day).  I had to act interested and try to subtly tell her the call was over if she didn't have any other questions about her phone, and I was even wonderful enough to say "god bless you too ma'am" in return for the same from her (we, in "the biz", call that "establishing rapport").  I hope she didn't count on mine as her only blessing for that day though, 'cause I don't think it counted.
