Please, please please, make the spawn points alittle closer to airbases for the Vehicles, I've noticed :
A)NO spawn points in Luzon
B)Spawn points in MED but min. 45 min drive to nearest enemy VH/Airfield

What HTC did with the Beta terrain upgrade was excellent from what little I did last night in a tank, spawn points within 15 min of enemy airfields...

Rip, I understand your pain, but there is no easy solution.

If the Med terrain was built for the MA, that wouldn't be a problem. But its built for Scenarios.

So if you put the extended launch points (ELP's) out any further than less than half way, the two opposing armored forces whould literally warp past each other like two ships passing in the night and never make contact.

There is also a limit as too how many objects you can place in a terrain, and therefore how many fields you can have.

So just placing more vehicle bases closer together is not the solution either.

I thought long and hard on this, and asked for input from many others, but there wasn't an apparent easy solution.

If you can come up with one, please let me know.

I don't understand what your saying, in the Main, there are many spawn points from opposing VH fields the 'cross' over 1/2 the way, when we 'up' them in scenarios, we simply turn the Vehicle around 180 degrees and start driving towards one another...what am I missing? (Ripsnort<<<TERRAIN Idiot)

Thats because in the MA, the purpose is to have a tank battle from pre-arrange bases, for instance "we will meet between A1 and A2 and fight it out".

In the SEA the purpose is to capture bases from a number of possible different starting points. In other words, during the scenario, you might be fighting a number of smaller tank battles simultaneously, from different bases, or one side may decide to concentrate its firepower at a single point of attack. The level of strategy and tactics in the larger scenario is much more complicated.

Okay, I understand, Verm, but keep "Game play" in mind, no one is going to volunteer for a tank battle if they have to drive 45 min. only to get killed in 5 seconds...

I understand totally, and will do my best to keep things "exciting"

Unfortunately, thats how things can be for anyone in a scenario (Pilot, vehicle crewman, or even a gunner).

Bombers frequently take a long time to climb to altitude and make it too target (I have flown up to 1.5 hours in scenarios before entering enemy territory), to die in the first 30 seconds of engagement.

I have even flown in some frames of certain scenarios, where we never encountered a single enemy plane.

People will have to realize that a Scenario isn't the Main Arena where you jump in a plane, take off, and fly straight for the enemy for a furball.

Its much more complex than that.  But thats what makes if more fun, the realism factor.

Two hours of sheer boredom, followed by 30 seconds of stark terror.

And no one is paying by the hour so relish in the mission anticipation and after some fomring up time then bask in that heady adrenaline rush when the sh&t hits the fan   ..

("slam, bam, thank you mam" is not what I think of when talking about a scenario frame)

Well, this MED terrain is not only limited to Scenario's either, we use it week-nights for general historic furballing...

When flying a B17 for 45 min, you have 'something to do", ie. watch for bogies, communications, formation flying, etc. you are very busy, with a tank, you jump in, push stick forward, go have a beer....

Anyway, thanks for responses Verm! <S>

make a "Scenario" version of the terrain, then copy it, rename it, edit spawn points and call it "MA" version.

Problem solved

I have to agree with Hamish.

With a couple of minor touches like VH spawn points the Med terrain would make an AWESOME main terrain next tour!
