Silent Hunter III??
« on: March 07, 2004, 08:43:11 PM »
Was over at IL2 checking development screenies, There is a link for a Simulation Game Survey On the News Page. It said that SHIII is currently in development :D!!!

I knew there was talk about it, but hell, I didnt know it was in development!!

Ive heard rumors about it being a US Pacific based game. Id rather it be a combination of Allied and Axis boats. Or hopefully it will be modded in.

This will be make or break for me on Ubi Games, If it doesnt come out or releases a half assed game Im through with thier company!
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Silent Hunter was awesome for a DOS game...Silent Hunter II sucked, too mission oriented....Silent Hunter III I would buy three seconds ago.

SH2 was awesome after it was patched and modded with Messerwetzer..

Well, If you wanna take the survey you have to go to http://www.IL2sturmovik.com as for a link to the game itself, I dont know if they have one yet.

Hopefully SH3 would be finished, then it'd be a blast.
a *real* dynamic campaign would be a real seller on my part.
(not some cheap mission generator which just links missions up as a 'dynamic' campaign, but something better)

SH 2 was much better after it was patched.
now at subsim the have a pacifc aces mod, much better than the original.
us subs v. jap boats.  1024 rez instead off the 800x600 sh2 rez.  more realistic damage models (SH2 depth charges would do damage at 50m range, realistic range is less than 5), better sound and graphics too.

they are asking for a $5 donation for site maintenance to download the mod or $20 for a cd with the mod and several other mods and goodies.

Yes, I want to know more abou the mod for SH2, also.  I started doing some of the training missions in SH2 but didn't get very far with it.

"Silent Hunter: Commander's Edition" totally rocks, even by today's graphics standards.  The gameplay in that one keeps bringing me back.

If only I could find a decent scale model of the Gato boat....   I built the Revell/Monogram "Lionfish" (great hull, crappy guns and conning tower).  Ok, off to surf to see if Tamiya makes a US sub kit.

Agree Saintaw

Was real pissed when they finally cancelled Harpoon4. Good news tho is that it will be finished by some enthusiasts but it will be a long time.

Eagler...that was an AWESOME game.  That and Harpoon got me hooked on computer games.

First download the official Ubi Patch...

Then download and intsall Messervetzer (Knife Sharpener)

Then if you feel like it download Swordfish...

Messervetzer fixes online play pretty good and fixes alot of the AI problems... Swordfish is a colection of sounds from Das Boot to replace every noise and crew voice in SH2, adds more immersion.

They have several player designed scenarios out there too...but as for dynamic campaign your SOL I beleive...
