Perked Bombers
« on: March 09, 2004, 01:29:07 AM »
Why is there not more than one perked bomber???
Sure the AR234 is a jet bomebr and should be perked, but quite frankly it has little use in the MA.

Why was another bomber not introduced and perked?

Or better yet, why not perk the B-17 and the Lanc, not a large perk, but maybe around the same as the C-Hog.  Not too much that you are scared to up one unless you know you are gonna be unopposed, but enough you wan tto brin git back home.  That would cut back on the dive bombing 17'as and the suicide 2k Lanc runs to level all the FH's at the small fields.

Or simply put the buffs back far enough at a few fields that only dedicated "high alt" guys will take them out.  Twin engine bombers should do the tactical work.  Strategic work should be left to the Heavies (which also means we need more--and more meaningful--strategic targets).  Relegating to rear fields seems like one way to do that.  Anyone who wants to achieve alt in a Lanc has to start at a rear base anyway.

I also think if there were interdiction raids on merchant vessels, bridges, etc., you'd see more bombers up and more directed at targets other than airfields.

Heavy bombers should only be able to up from large fields, medium bombers large and medium fields i think.

Get rid of overload ord on american planes and bombers will be more useful ;)

They have it so planes not produced in large quanities are perked... I dont think the b17 or lanc falls under that category

they are perked so they do not unbalance MA.  Which is why Spit 14, Tempest are perked. (both built in numbers, both saw regular combat)

Of course if they were American planes such as the Mustang, or German  like the G10 or D9, or russian like the la7... they would be free  ;)

Perhaps allow trade of bomber perks for fighter or Tiger tank at exchange rate of 1 pt received for 2 exchanged.  And/or,  give us a late-war uber-Mossie with the 4000 lb. "cookie" bomb load out.

Many of the US rides could actually carry more ord than whats currently modeled. Lan bases cordairs could carry as much as 4000lbs  of bombs, and rockets...

And P38s could carry torps and could use a Norden bombsight... doesn't mean it belongs in the MA.

bombers are already rare and they make fun targets no need to perk them

by perking the bombers you destory there use and my fun

the bombers right now serve 3 main missions right now

MILKING FACTORYS
CV BOMBING LEVEL OR DIVE
HQ BOMBING

airfield bombing is a rare sight but there not realy used for airfields anymore

but i seem them used alot for it before

ARE234 has to be perked but you dont see it used because of a few things

1 its the hardest bomber to level bomb or dive bomb the high speed makes it hard to CAL and hit the target
2
the bombload is fair carrying 3000ibs with a FORM of are234's thats good but people whine about 2 things
1 only 3 bombs means they did to hit a target with only 1 bomb from 3 bombers so it has to be pinpoint bombing and thats already hard in this bomber 2 people dont like flying for 30 mins to a hour to just drop so few bombs they feel if there going to take up a bomber it better have alot of bombs

dont get me wrong here iv used the ARE234 and as far as i know i do very well in it i hit more then 70% targets in it and iv not losted 1 ARE234 to enemy fighters or ack
known as Arctic in the main
