Bomber Pilots please study this
« on: February 25, 2000, 05:11:00 PM »
Right now we can set salvo and delay.

Minimum delay is 0.05 seconds.  Am I correct when I say that this would result in the release of twenty bombs in a single second?

If this is incorrect, would someone enlighten me?

If it is correct, go load up a B-26 with twenty 100 pounders and set salvo to 20 and delay to 0.05 then simply grab a few and release.

Please post your findings here.  I am curious
if we have a bug here or I am not thinking this through quite well enough.

Thanks,
Yeager

You're right, something is wrong.

20 bombs with a 0.05 second delay certainly take longer than 1 second to release.

its .50 not .05 cause if you look at the spaces between the bomb craters you can see

I was hoping we could have a smaller delay for pickle type drops. The .5 is pretty much the delay we have always had, its just that you can set it higher now. We still don't have a command to dump groups of a bombs all at the same time. I also wondered if when we drop a salvo, if the bombs could drop in pairs instead of plop plop plop. while this would give a mild bracket effect it would make accuracy easier, especially after hi alt is reduced.

Assume you all know delay only works if you have a salvo count set?

yup HT, know that =)
right after takeoff in a B17 w/ 100's loaded (salvo 20 set before takeoff, couldna set 24), hit the pickle about 100ft agl, it takes several seconds to drop the 20 eggs, and if I look outside I can see small gaps between the bomb craters

Cc HT,

had salvo set to 10 (B26, twenty 100pndrs) with delay set to 0.05 and it takes at least a few seconds to salvo the ten 100pndrs.
