Stewart's Sunny VIII, All I can realley find are pictures of the left hand side profile, but I also remember seeing a picture from the right hand fron, and saw something yellow on the rudder of it, does anyone know where I can find a better pictre that will show me what that was?( or was it the insignia?) thanks guys

Wish I'd seen this sooner.  Two scans of wartime color photos of Everett Stewart's Sunny VIII.  Why go with the restored when the real deal will do :)

lol, the other side of wartime sunny is a mystery.... what I did, was duplicated the left-hand side on the right except for the kill markings, but sometimes nose art changes colors (i.e the memphis belle is red on one side and blue on the other)

I think that applied more to bombers then fighters.  Going through my 4th FG books, I don't see any that carried nose art on the right side.  I believe the accepted practice in the 4th was just nose art on the left side so the right side of Sunny VIII wouldn't have anything on it.  It would also explain the lack of photos of Sunny VIII from the right side.  Just another 51 from that perspective.

In other fighter groups, the right side was the Crew Cheif's side for nose art and often times you'd see two different names on a fighters.

I'm sure you already know it, but just in case.  The VF would be in front of the star and bar on the right side too.

The aircraft data block would be on the left side below the windscreen, none on the right. It also looks like in the photos that Stewarts name as well as his crew cheif and armorer are above the data block below the windscreen

Very bare with just the Squadron codes and star and bar on the right side.

image is a profile I did a while back of another 4th FG 51D.  Note the data block under the windscreen.

Yep, you are right.  No radio wire.

You going to be able to get a photo and post the final result? It would be fun to see :)

I'm curious as to what scale and what kit you used?  1/48th?
