Dear Oleg,

First let me express my graditude and admiration for this incredable sim.

I know it started as an eastern front sim, but with the addition of the Zero and pacific maps you have teased me and set in motion a great longing in me.

I now dream of a day when I can take off from a carrier in Zero or a Hellcat, attack enemy carriers and return to land on a carrier.
Is there a possability that sometime in the future this may be possable. PLEASE.

Luthier had better take a look at the aircraft's landing gear DM along the way. I don't think it will put up with the punishment of a carrier landing as it is ritgh now in FB.

I think you are wrong. Probably you will see wit this item such things that you never seen in other sims :)  Just wait for the October.

Luthier and crew are developing an add-on for Fb with Olegs support. Those of you that remember the thread I posted a while back discussing the p47m / p47n may have picked up on hint about a future pac add-on. Here's another...

Fb was $14.99 at Amazon, the current aces add-on is about 2 x that but will come down soon.  Those of you waiting for spitifres or pac planes these newest develoments ought to be good news.

I'm hoping AH2 is going to blow all the competition out of the water.

Ever since I downloaded the 1st Il-2 beta I've been waiting for those guys to do carriers.  That would really be a challenging sim.

Got that right. Its hard enought to land in a thunderstorm. Imagine landing in a thunderstorm on a carrier..bet they put ocean swells in..
Hear a rumour that the first add on for AEP will be this friday...

Not sure that there is any, concidering the Aces Ex update, but still, that's not my hope. Just that they do this, with big Blue planes and realistic maps complete with his water effects on atolls...

Bought Battlefield "Vietnam" today. I think it's a benchmark for good games/engines, that just refine the original  to another level. Not even graphic specific btw.

Buy it. It's BF1942 with great terrain, but you'll have to hide more, and a whole new interface.

It will be interesting to see if the long time BF crowd loves or just likes it a little bit more.

I'm really looking to the Oleg BOB sim they are working. I can't wait to see how much better they can get the Bf-110 to look than it does now..

Why do both of the best flight sim developers that I know of write so badly?  Must be a left brain vs right brain thing.

I just bought IL-2 FB (AEP) and it 'floored' me with it realisim.  Those guys are great!  I've been working with my Squad to get it running online.

We've had problems with Voice Comms when running RW but that's the only problem.  We're going to test the in-game comms  and 'Chat' feature next.

I never had Graphis as my first priority but when someone 'gets it right' it's someting to behold.

Batz, I got a question for ya - when did the Bf110 G2/R3 (the one with the Mk108 cannons) get developed? Was it before Jan 1943?

Or more appropriately, when did the Mk108 get developed, and when did it arrive on the Eastern Front?

Thanks!

Otto - Teamspeak works a lot better for me (on a 56K modem) than RW while using Il2:FB AEP.

For anyone who plays it on Hyperlobby - my handle is SeaWulfe. So if ya see me, I'll play with ya (depending on difficulty settings).

The Machinekanone (MK) 108 was developed by Rheinmetall-Borsig between 1941/42. The design was finalized in 1942. It met the RLM requirement for an aircraft cannon that could knock down enemy bombers with the lowest expenditure of ammunition and stay beyond the range of enemy defensive fire.

When did the MK 108 reach the eastern front?

Well the demand for these cannon were from those aircraft tasked with destroying bombers. I would imagine that most aircraft (day and night fighters) with mk108s were sent to the west front / defense of the Reich.

Messerschmitt stopped production of the 110 series in 1943. Production did continue at the Gothaer Waggonfabrik plant. With the availability of the DB605B engine, a nother version of the Bf 110 (Ausführung G) went into production, whose main features was the use of the DB605 engine and MG 151/20 cannons replacing the aged MG-FF cannons.

It had to be well into '43 before the 110G-2/R3 variants were produced.

The majority of LW  fighters didn't carry the mk 108. That includes the G6, G14 and G10.

For example, the G-14 was (as the other 109s) produced by Messerschmitt in Regensburg, Erla Maschinenwerke in Leipzig and WNF (Wiener Neustädter Flugzeugwerke).

The minority was built by WNF. Many (not all) G-14s built by WNF had their MG 151/20 replaced by a MK 108, which resulted in the designation G-14/U4.

So the majority built by Messerschmitt and Erla kept their MG 151/20.

I don't have specific dates and numbers but an earliest best guess for 110G-2/R3 arriving in the east front would be late '43, most likely much later.
