HTC should designate some players as CM`s with the ability to eject players or at least disable the fields for countrys not being used for the event. This would prevent "spoilers" from screwing up a planned event. Shame on the players who logged on as Bishops today,EVEN if you didn`t engage either of the two sides, you still caused a lot of extra traffic in the text buffer and took away from the event.

I'd want to ask for a little change in the hour of the event...next time plz do it at 5 PM, if we all can do it...4PM is 22:00 here and its just the hout I cant afford to be online because a lot of reasons...(parents the worse of all)

Of course I wont ask for such change only for me.If it can be done, great. If not I'll still do my best to assist to the events.
Thanks

Another good power to have weasel would be the ability designate the amount of or ratio of planes. Example. Lets say everyone jumps in a fighter and the buffs are falling short of the numbers needed for a good/fair engagement. Then the CM or whoever is in charge could put a limit on how many fighters, axis or allies allowed etc. Essentialy give whoever is organising the event the power to control the arena and change things on the fly.

I can only give you the perspective of observer.

The bout of influenza left me unfit for flight duties, so I was relegated to comms. Ripsnort was to lead the 109's, Bigjim the 190's. We loaded them up for bear, 100% fuel, DT, and gondolas (109's).

We suspected something shifty, so we sent 4 of our best solo pilots out for armed recon. They were the first to encounter the stream of 51's and bombers- and what a cloud it was! The 51's were all the way up to 33K and climbing, the buffs below at 20K.

From there it was frantic calls and killbuffer rolling. I watched BaneX kill 5 in the space of 30 seconds before he himself was killed. Hristo ran a good string, as did several others whose names scrolled so fast I couldn't read.

The 17's made it to the very brink of HQ, but were finally dispatched at the moment of truth. From there the escort scurried back in a running fight to Rookland.

Did everyone have fun? I think most did. I heard a few complaints, but it went pretty well. A few notes to beginners:

1. There is a 32 plane limit to viewing. This means that only 32 planes can be seen in an area at once. If you were killed by a ghost, it might have been the limit.

2. We only replaned if we bailed safely, as per the ROE. Anyone who "came back from the dead" was outside ROE.

3. Next time it will be helpful if we have a bit better lead time for sign-ups. I was worried as LW commander if I would have 12 planes, and wound up turning people away. We can also start the events on time if we don't have to redirect people 5 minutes before event start.

4. If you come in and the event is started, stay out if instructed to do so. We had some people flying Bishop who interefered- remember, the express purpose of the arena is organized events. You are welcome to participate, but don't interfere with the hard work of many people.

It was a great time, and hopefully we will see some great films!

Handy, Hristo, BaneX, Torque... got film?

Umm... a few notes about mass formations:
I went OTR with the buffs, and my frame rate went went to 3
(I'm running a celery@415 mhz with tnt2/32 meg.  My conx on sunday night is good.  I mean stable 100k/sec good)
My FE did not receive or rather did not process the packet with the roll command.  Even if it did, I could not start the engines.  (I pressed E repeatedly no joy).
FInally, when the group got beyond d40, I was able to exit and replane.
I rejoined the massive group of buffs, finally closing in seconds before the attack.
Suddenly, some 109s appeared on our long 6.  Bombers around me started exploding.  I saw a 109 saddle up our six, and I hollered to my gunner.  His FE didn't see the 109.  Down we went.
Um.. note to organizers: remember, there is a 32-plane limit here.

First off, I had a blast!  Even tho the P-38 was not yet available.

HTC should designate some players as CM`s with the ability to eject players or at least disable the fields for countrys not being used for the event.

Yes, definitely!

Stuff I saw that we can "improve" on:

  - Was killed repeatedly by ack (?) when trying to taxi on the airfield to form up before launching?!  I ended up just staying on the spawn/regeneration point until time to roll.

  - Was following my wingman to protect his six, when suddenly he blew up!  For no apparent reason ... if it was an "invisible" plane over the 32-plane limit, neither of us saw it (or evidently the other P-51's we were in the middle of).

First, let me correct one thing-

Cave, thanks for setting this up. It was a fun time, problems notwithstanding.

Thanks to everyone who joined. It was great to see that many planes together.

Dinger-

I don't know what to say. Do we limit Scenarios to 32 people? As they happen all the time in Brand W and AW, I'd be curious how this limitation is handled there. The one thing I can see as possible might be to split the attacking force. We of the LW planned to split up for a two-prong attack that didn't materialize. We wound up hitting the concentration of fighters and bombers as one force. Had things played the way we first suspected, I doubt we'd have seen this particular problem. Again, all I've ever heard suggests this particular problem isn't leaving soon, so we need to know how to deal with its presence.

You could always divide groups into smaller numbers and seperate them..in waves for example. They would be easier meat for attacking fighters but it would also mean some of the other bombers would get through (not like tonight   ) because the attackers cant be everywhere at once.

Wow - it was a blast...  I almost fell from my seat when I spotted the cloud of 51s & 17s. By heart I would say that were ways more than 32 (no limits on dots?) I agree with the suggestion that CO should get more authority although I didn't notice any interference.

As for the critics. Next time be sure radar is disabled. Makes my job as scout much more demanding...    btw filmed the whole event, 1st as one of the 109 scouts, 2nd as a "spectator" c47 - not very much to see there... was heading towards HQ to see what damage was done... (don't have a HP to set them up yet, but will do one asap)

I am really looking forward to future scenarios. AH is the place to be -

I have to say that was one of the most impressive floks of B17's i've ever flown in

Here are my Comments on the event:

1. Flightleaders, CO's and CM's please use CAPS all time so you can be recognized as persons with influence

2. Never ver roll 20+ B17's from 1 Field at a time .. all together.. my Fort ditched on the hill slope because taking off with a framerate of 2-3 isn't all that easy

3. get all people in in one area (e.g. the country not involved in the fight) and then spread them out to the respective countries.. there will be a CM needed wo serves as the walk on shepherd..

4. The 32 plane view limit hurts .. flying in the middle of the Bomber stream with the escorts overhead i just didn't see any enemy fighters untill the first B17's blw uip around me .. (every B17 blowing up was replaced by a 109 or 190 LOL)

I stronly suggest:
a.) take off from different fields for the escorts and buffs, organize flights of 8 or so maximum for better communication
b.) let the forts take off 1 after the other , and randevouce circling over a certain point (8th airforce did so)
c.) and yea going in waves (or seperate strikes with about halfe the numbers might be better..

I've been flying in Operation Longbow in AW3.. it was a BLAST but also hurted by massive number of airplanes in flight.. they countered this problem by timing the Buffs to a stream. That meant that when you had to break off the attack as LW guy there where still Forts coming

All in ALL a VERY enjoyable experience and i hope we see this sort of Event again soon !!

(if the organizers need some hands i'm here to volunteer!)

1St of all, I would like to thank CJ and Redstar for organising this event, i was not supposed to be there on time but finaly made it, and was HAAAPYYYYYYYY   .

Mhhh, yes, I think the organisers should be granted "Moderator powers" as it was a bit tough to see the Orders in the text buffer as it was a bit clogged by Bishcuits....(They must be related to my Brother in law....taking most of the fun outa us....)

I was flying in the 190's "Swarm" in the lower gruppe, and missed the Big cloud as I was following BigJim on a Straggler, then finaly spotted the "Cloud"..Ohhh MAMA !

Forgot all I knew, just prayed, wep on, ran in the middle of the Buff formation, got one , but was Killed before the Text Buffer admitted me the Kill (Sigh....sh***t happens.....).

As I said to my Squadmates, at least while they were shooting at me, I was clearing out a path to my fellow pilots
