As long as you can turn it off.

Some people are playing as a sport and don't want to be reminded of gory violence thats part of war, JUST like they don't want to be reminded of the social ideology of WWII Germany.
I can see how some people who've seen combat might not like the gore. Fact is, sometimes the first clue you have that you've been shot is wondering "where the hell is all this blood comming from?" Having blood spatters suddenly appear on the screen might be just a little uncomfortably realistic to some, even in a sim.

I think the use of blood spatters is pandering to the Doom crowd, but if you can turn it off - I don't care.

Opus, the fact remains that if you're shot with a heavy calibre machinegun or an auto cannon blood will splatter.

Quote
Suddenly out of nowhere there leaps a bright flame and an astonishing release of energy. Immediately followed by the tremendous staggering slap of concussion. It pulsates with a flashing of fantastic lights. Without warning a wide tear became visible in the right wing around the number three engine. You are terrified; your whole being is totally intimidated. You feel as if your soul has escaped from your body. You can see and feel the darkness closing in around you. Everything seems to be standing on the edge of a huge black void as the universe fades in the distance.

Time is standing still as everything is in slow motion. The plane begins shaking and trembling from the nose to the tail. She immediately begins a graceful slide on the right wing approaching dangerously near the adjoining fortress. Frantically the other pilot pushes down hard on his rudder skidding out of the way with only a second to spare. Immediately grabbing the controls I am desperately trying to bring the plane out of the slide while bypassing other planes in the formation and trying to keep the plane flying.

With all your strength you are barely able to move the controls. Reaching for the feathering button for number three engine I unexpectedly see the spray of brains, bones, tissue and blood splattered over the right side of the cockpit. What was left of the copilot lay pitched over the control column. With the bile rising in my throat you soon are choking in your oxygen mask with seemingly a black cloud starting to engulf you.

Great quote sholtz, sends chills just reading it.

For the weak, I'm sure HTC will give the option to turn it off but remember there are those with iron stomachs and/or brains that lack the real context and actual personal experiences of such carnage and will enjoy the added rush of the gore.

Personally I can't wait to see what it is like when the blood hits the screen, too cool HTC, I guess oil will be soon to follow.

And I definitely vote for the shredded meat of a shot up meat puppet hanging in the shoot :D

Also, he has a good reason to state this matter, because AH is a flight sim.

Just my two cents...

Why in the world would anyone who was sensitive about the way their relitive might have died up, and reup time and again to recreate that situation only to recreate that situation. then do it over and over?

Blood spatters, skull fragments, missing limbs are all part of war.
So is crapping your pants. Want that incorporated into the down view? I'm not trying to bully anyone's preference. I just think its should be selectable. Just because someone wishes not to see that effect doesn't mean they're sqeamish - they just don't want to see it. They may have seen real life stuff that would have you or me crawling into the fetal position blathering like an idiot.
Selectable seems to be a win win option.

And Jackal - grow up. I'm not going to measure appendages with you.

opus,
you should manually write in your brain that what you see on screen isn't the same thing as you see in real war.  the urge to hug the toilet might magically disappear.

control surfaces blow off, fuel tanks leak. pilots are made of the same 'real' matter that actually follows the same laws of physics, so it's useful to have it modeled as the rest of the plane.  Otherwise you will have to un-model black outs and every other pilot characteristic as well.

Let me get this straight: Enemey aircraft disintegrating into a ball of flame right in front of you as you fly through the debris is OK, but your own blood splattering about the cockpit is in poor taste?

I wonder if the dudes hanging in chutes will jerk about and ooze blood when you shoot them - before they explode, of course.

For a guy that is against all this stuff you sure come up with great ideas.

I'm all for limbs and blood on the windshield if I get too close when the plane infront of me explodes.  Another great one Eagler!:aok   Keep em comming:D

That would be awsome, when slap steels my kill the plane explodes and the guys head smashes his windshield and covers it in blood - Awsome!!!!!
